I have a fair collection of Salsa tunes by latin artists, but only a few by non-latin artists. "Hell" by The Squirrel Nut Zippers is one example and The Cherry Poppin' Daddies have one called "Shake Senora" (which is suppose to be a salsa, but sounds more Samba to me).
Any others?

Orquestra de la Luz. They are Japanese
Are you specifically looking for english versions of songs? I find that tribute albums to popular bands can sometimes be very cool and might have been made if the band is big enough.
like these ones

Latin Dance Band is a local Danish band.
Always ready for a great night with lots of energy and salsa.
Last time this Saturday. :D :D :D
They have written some numbers in Danish, and a couple of sound clips can be found here.

Try out west african music, e.g. Africando. Also, if you are crazy/passionate enough you can dance salsa to any 4/4 music. It depends on how far you are willing to go.
I think it would be cool to make a list of "pop" songs that have the salsa beat. I heard someone say Faith by George Michael before here. I kind of hear a bit of salsa beat in the new version of "Lady Marmalade" that went with Moulin Rouge.
Any others?

No fight Sagitta. I just need to borrow a few moves from Sassy Hips Youngsta and I suspect Brujo wouldn't know what hit him  (I am assuming that Brujo is male   )

Marc Anthony's English songs are good. Ruben Blades' English songs bug me, though. Somehow seem contrived to me. Lou Bega(Mambo #5, I've Got a Girl, etc) is fun to dance to. There's a song "Salsa en Ingles" by Miguel Oscar y la Fantasia that's just plain ODD. Orqesta de la Luz is now defunct and is now Orqesta de la Sol.

I thought they'd got back together -- a friend of mine went to their (De La Luz's) concert in Tokyo in February this year. Or have they split again?

I could be wrong on that Macmoto. I just picked up the new "Salsa 120%"(salsa mag in Japan) and there's an article on them so I'll read up.

The Celtica boys rock! 8) My current fave is Ave Maria De Escocia medley. Fun song to dance to with a versatile lead.
The title track from the album, El Agua De La Vida, is great for a party -- another kicking "kilt and pure malt" track, this one. :D

'Smooth' from Santana's album 'Supernatural' is a funky slow mambo/chachacha. It was issued as a single here in Europe and was a chart success. Don't know about the USA, though.
It's in English and was written by Rob Thomas and Itaal Shur.

I agree - I just love Smooth by Santana & CO. The guitarsolo is one of the best I know.

You are sooo right about the guitar solo (by Carlos himself! :D ) Though the whole band are great.
It also proves that fast isn't always best.

Pete 'El conde' Rodriguez - I Like it like That

I found it on Living La Vida Mambo by the Mambo All-Stars.
The whole Santana Supernatural CD was a huge hit in the US a few years ago. Smooth is a great cha cha, too!

mmmm
probably I uderstood not correctly the thread...
I thought the question wasn't about salsa artists not coming from latin world
nor about salsa artists singing in English...
but salsa version of non latin artists, or originally rock or soul...
I would like to contribute in this sense...
In Italy we have a lot of dj that produces remixes in salsa version.
2 famous last year have been
get busy
and the last michael jackson hit
and.. I begun to dance with thinking of you - Lanny Kravitz (salsa sure)
another one in the past was Hotel California but was not a remix, but a latin version made by a cuban combo.
In italy use a lot remix hip hop in salsa...
I prefer salsa classica
