Short story even shorter: my dance shoes were stolen last night. So now I'm in the market for a new pair. So its time to go shoe shopping...not one of my favorite activities (sorry ladies). I'll likely go and buy a pair on Thursday from the last place I bought my shoes. I'll probably end up buying a set like my old shoes.

In case you were wondering, my old pair was your standard (no pun intended) black leather shoe, seude bottom, with a 1in heel. They worked well and I'd be happy with another set. But since I have to get a new pair anyway, I figure I might as well look around and see what's out there.

So any thoughts/recommendations?

How much are you willing to spend and how long can you afford to wait?

(Not that I have useful recommendations. I just figured a little additional information might help the guys out there help you.)

And, btw, getting your shoes stolen really stinks.

Yeah, tell me about it. It was bad enough that they broke the window on my car, but taking my dance shoes on top of that...grrr...

Anyway, I'd like to get a new pair asap. As far as money goes, I'm willing to spend upto $150. I'd prefer a quality shoe to a cheap one as I would be using them 3-4 times per week. Also, I don't believe I mentioned it, but I'm looking for Smooth/Standard shoes.

In my experience men's dance shoes are pretty easy. I've consistently had a good fit from the Supadance shoes - I wear about a 1/2 size smaller than non dance shoes.

I buy the 5 eye style, with the thinking that the shoe can be held in place better. In reality there probably isn't much difference compare to the three eye.

I wouldn't mess with the heel height for standard/smooth. Just go with the standard heel.

I prefer Black leather to the patent - my opinion is that patent leather is for people to lazy to shine their shoes.

Enjoy,
Scott

I left my Dance Naturals in the restaurant at Nationals, and then they didn't seem to turn up in the Lost and Found. I have yet to buy replacements, but I'll probably end up getting the same again, since I like the rounded toes and one-piece construction. They're on the pricier end of the men's shoes, which has made me think about trying the split sole standard shoes (Supaflex) from Supadance.

Did you file a police report telling them to look for the guy running with great heal leads?

I bought the split sole for Latin - and was impressed by the shoe.
I would consider buying the split sole for Standard/Smooth - if they would make it in black leather.

However I am also under the impression that the split sole would not be as beneficial in Standard/Smooth.

:D They said that if they found him, they said that they could follow him anywhere.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've been looking at some of the suggestions online (when I should have been working) and this ad cracked me up:

Features include a split sole and short shank to provide flexibility, a sprung heel to absorb impact, and perforated sides to increase air flow to the foot.

I'm not so sure that the perforated sides a plus. I mean do you really want me to be airing out my feet?!
