Hello.

I know nothing about dancing (nothing!).

I want to know the dance basic, the basic fundamantals, and than maybe move foward.

I want to know the BASIC moves that will work for almost ANY song.

I dont know the type of dancing, I guess I want to start dance to what I call "MTV" song.. just hear an MTV song in a party, and know how to dance without feelintg an idiot.

I hope you can help me and let me know where I can find how to do it. Also, what is the "type" of dance that I want to learn ("mtv songs"), what is the official word to use?

I will be happy to hear from you.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!

Boy, you're asking some very general questions here. There are a lot of threads started by people who are also new to dancing that can probably give you a start. Please use the "search" feature above and type in "grinding" or something to that effect.

There IS no "basic" for EVERY dance. Most of the dances are first cousins, meaning they have similar elements and such, but there's no swiss-army-dance, I'm afraid.

Were there, I'd be glad to do ANYTHING to post it as a sticky and cut down on these poor folks' post after post of "I can't dance".

The best thing to do is learn several "easy" dances and keep them in your wallet next to the condom and dad's credit card, that way when you need one, there it is. :D

Grinding is probably a good bet for a lot of MTV-ish stuff. If you want actual dance steps, you could try forward and backward rock steps, a box step, or maybe a chasse.....these occur in a lot of latin and rhythm dances. Depending on the song, you can sort of mix and match them.

(And sorry, I can't explain how to do the steps verbally. I'd just confuse myself and probably you as well.)

Thanks for the tips.

You know a good place I can learn the basic of Grinding?

(A website with basin videos or something?)

Thank you!
