Hey there...I'll be arriving in sunny, warm Atlanta Friday afternoon. I CAN'T WAIT to get to a place that is SUNNY! I'm dancing a lot on Saturday (more than I actually bargained for - not sure how that happened). I assume I'll see you Friday night at the show? Or in the bar ( :wink: ). I got a new (used) dress for this comp - and as a result, I won't be eating until Sunday.

I bought the pre-colored fingernails today, BTW. Got some cheap lipstick to match. Should be interesting.

Has anyone here used the press-on or glue-on nails??

when I did a good job, they stayed for over a week. And people at work thought I got Acrylics.. They looked nice. They can be difficult to take off if after you loose one, you decide they all have to go

More than 1/2 of my nails are "long enough", so if I lose one...unless it's the left pinky, I can probably just shorten the fake ones a bit and it won't be too noticeably different. I bought a cheapo polish in the color of the pre-printed nails. I just hope nothing flicks off while dancing....I can just picture getting my teacher in the eye with one.

I've lost one or 2 the first 2 times I used the fake nails. After that, I learned how to put them on.

Speaking of all the rain (hi-ack alert), anyone know how Battista's studio is doing?? I saw River Street in Hackensack on the news (and I remember getting stuck there a long time ago in tire-deep rain) and I know he's not far from there. Hope his floor stays dry.

Just looked at the weather report and it's supposed to be sunny here Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (~80 deg)... it was rainy last week, glad you didn't come then! Hope you all have a good time... I will be in a salsa workshop and dance most of Saturday so I won't be able to admire all of your beautiful dancing, but I hope everyone coming will do well, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!!! :D

The nails came out ok :) i might have to repain them though :)Don't like gloves, they feel strange. I am not used to them.

Looks like Friday nite is the nite for Hotlanta. :) Now then... What to wear... Haven't seen Eddie and Nancy in 4 years... My how time flies..... Or DanceMentor for that matter, lol. ;)

ETA: Friday nite is when we'll be there. It's the Open Standard Pro/Am and the Pro Standard. That's what dreams are made of. I think our coach will be competing there with students. :)

FYI...the good news is that my bad knee isn't bugging me, the bad news is that my good knee is suddenly experiencing sharp, intermittent pains. LIke little lightning bolts. Egads!

Well, I'm about 6 different shades of tan. Seriously, a note for future reference: don't give your 7-year old a bottle of tanning lotion and brush and say "paint like Picasso". Ugh! Luckilly most of the streaks will be covered.

As for nerves, I usually don't get them until I actually get out on the floor. Having a job, a husband and 2 kids keeps me completely distracted until I have to focus on dancing. Gotta love those distractions :

If DF posts are anything to judge by, most people who're serious dancers don't have that issue ... more's the pity. Not sure why dance and kids seem to mutually exclusive, most of the time.

But I digress.

Unfortunately, the photographer announced they were not posting pictures on the internet. I have no idea why. I did not see the end of the pro latin.

I do remember one couple I really thought was terrific in the amateur open latin...from Texas. They were really dynamic and fast and had terrific chemistry. Can't remember their names off the top of my head, but I can look in the book later. The guy had on black/white pinstriped pants and suspenders...I really liked the look.

Pro rhthym was topped out by Jackie/Jesse and Michael/Danielle. Can't remember the others after that.

As for me....I did an exhausting number of dances and was really praying to see my comforter by 4:00 pm on Saturday. I did fairly well in my single dances and not quite as well in the 3 dance championship - 5th. In fact, I was so tired, I was hoping not to be called into the final. I really lacked energy and tried to compensate and became really tense. Not my best outing, for sure. But, overall the comp was run really well and the organizers did a great job in keeping things running smoothly. The deck woman did an awesome job. My only complaint was th price of the videos ($15 per heat) and the pictures were also expensive. More expensive than NYC, if I remember correctly.

The salsa party at the end of the night was lots of fun. The only bad part was the floor was tiny. But, I got a 2nd wind and stayed on there until after 2:00 a.m. As a result, I'll be in bed early tonight!

that's too bad the pictures won't be up. I wonder why...... I couldn't make it to Hotlanta as I was inbetween instructors and I would love to see more action shots. OH well. I guess I'll live..... 8)

Wow, I've never been to such a big .. PRODUCTION.. Hotlanta really went all out.. It was a great comp, too bad we had to dance couple hours after getting off the plane...
