I've just learned from a friend that Dance Studio 101 is offering a unlimted practice for $80 a month. What is the going rate at other studios?

Welcome Standardnut :D

That sounds like a pretty good deal -- although I use the aerobics room at my gym for free. But if I had to pay...

$160 per month, that sounds about average... actually better than average... but not exciting enough to switch.. if it was per couple, we would go there without any hesitation..

The studio where I practice is $40 per person per month, or $5 per person per day...and if you happen to be in their "intensive" syllabus class then it's free.

The studio has another deal, for $720 a year of unlimited practice or this drops it down to $60 a month per person.

I am still trying to get a feel what other studio charges in NYC.

aren't a lot of places 15/hour per couple? if both of you pay 80, that's 160/month. Divided by 15, that's 10.6 hrs of practice/month, a little more than two hours a week.

BOF is 85 for 10 hours, not sure what special rates you can get in NY. A lot of places charge per hour, and that's usually over 15.

Chelsea dance had a special for $50 once, but that was for college kids.. (I think it was free for team members..)

At my studio, students can practice for free before and after class, but if we want to come during day time, then we have to pay an entrance/practice fee. The only studios i know that allow students to practice whenever they want to are franchise studios.

Free for us here. I have my own key. My partner and I sometimes bus the tables, though, if we're practicing the night after a dance.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add: aside from the $5 per day or $40 per month, on the day that you take a private lesson you get to practice as long as you want for free.

If you take private lessons (you buy a block of them for a set amount, lowest being about $175 or so), you get unlimited practice time free, practice dances free, too.

Hi...At BOF, is this per person or couple?

Kitty
10-13-2005, 11:19 AM
at BoF it is $85 per 10 hours per couple
this is only for amateurs, they have a different rate for pros

unless you buy 10 hours at a time, it is $17 per hour per couple.

I've just came back from practice from Dance Studio 101. They are running a 50% off special for amateurs. We end up paying $6.50 an hour for the both of us. This is a very beautiful studio and its around 3,000 ft.

Sometimes the system burps (technical term  ) and you get multiple posts of the same thing. It's happened to me before. And, once someone replies, you can't delete the repeats. *shrug* :?

haha
I do

you know, those latin obstacles that populate DanceChelsea at rush hours...

those obstacles are given their own little corner at BoF and are asked not to interfere with the big boys doing standard on the real floor...
That's why we like BoF...
