So who enjoys dancing Waltz; the standard variety?

I like the dance itself; just don't care for doing so when there are a lot of people on the dance floor since I have to constantly avoid collisions. This aside it is one of the most beautiful and elegant of dances.

I enjoy the waltz. I do more or less whatever my follower is used to, except for Viennese waltz, since I don't really know it that well. ( I tend to lapse back into standard, even though I hear the music and know I should do Viennese. I need to work on my muscle memory for that.) There is a country-style waltz that a lot of people I dance with like to do, especially when I go to a local contra or folk dance. Then there is the standard ballroom waltz that I myself prefer. I agree that it is not as much fun to dance when the dance floor gets crowded, and it gets even more difficult when people have no idea what the steps are, that people are supposed to dance counter-clockwise around the dance floor, that slow dancers should dance in the middle etc The rise and fall and flow as one glides around the dance floor is somehow disrupted when the floor is crowded that way.

Though I don't do it very often C&W waltz is very nice. Done much the same way as progressive two step - just walk forward/backward, but to different rhythm and count.

I like both slow waltz and C&W waltz (Viennese waltz -- jury's out). My favorite is when the lead knows both, so we can move in and out. My last dance exhibition was a combo waltz. Way fun!
