Hi
I hope you don't mind me posting a question in here, I'm not a professional dancer but I am learning the foxtrot for my wedding dance. My dance instructor has suggested some songs from artists such as frank sinatra and cole porter. I don't mind music from back then but most of my guests are in their 20's and I would prefer something more modern that they could relate to.
Google search hasnt really come up with anything useful.
Thanks
Louisa

"Just In Time" from the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack is great for a wedding song, and most everyone has heard it and can enjoy it.

i have the soundtrack in question & i don't recall that particular song being on that album. perhaps you're thinking of "It Had To Be You"? or "I could write a book" or "let's call the whole thing off"?
louisa: if your friends are familiar with diana krall she has a number of songs that would fit the bill. maybe something like "i don't know enough about you"? or if you're familiar with artists like michael buble - he's got a lot of stuff that would be appropriate for a foxtrot... this might be a stretch - but maybe even something like norah jones' "cold cold heart"?
good luck!

Chris Botti's CD "To Love Again" has a great version of "Let There Be Love" done as a duet with Michael Buble.

Maddest Kind of Love by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy instantly springs to mind. I'm aslo a big fan of Buble; his versions of some older songs are sweeeet! Reccomended: Fever, Moondance, Feeling good (though it's not strict tempo)

Agreed on Michael Buble and Harry Connick, Jr. They have the same kind of "crooner" sound as Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin, but the renditions are updated.

Completely different sound, but I saw a couple practicing theirs to "Harvest Moon" by Neil YOung. Lyrics:
"Harvest Moon"
Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away.
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night.
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart.
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye.
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon.
