Has anyone come across this and knows what it is?
Recently, I started getting "an error" message whenever I logged in that khost.exe was not loading properly, or something like that. Sorry, I know, I know! I should have written down the text of the error message.
I googled and didn't find much that shed much light for me - bearing in mind that I am not technical - on what it is and more importantly I guess, why I started getting that error message.
I've never experienced that one, but I wonder whether the "host" part of it might mean it's something to do with your server?

After a little searching it appears that is could be a bit of spyware. << Link Removed >>
Essentially the stated purpose of this application is for video distribution, but it is mentioned that it may also serves ads. None of the sites i checked rated it as extremely dangerous.
I would recommend running a utility designed to search for and remove such things - just in case. I recently had the most luck using microsofts antispyware tool after my sisters computer became rather clustered. In the past I've also vouched for LavaSofts AdAware Personal Edition and Spybot: Search and Destroy
Microsofts antispyware tool is available from their site and is in beta
The other I don't have handy, but should be easy enough to find. All mentioned products are available for free or there is a free version.
If you are more interested in this particular file it is attributed to Kontiki
P.S. I cannot post links, if you need any just send me aPM
Welcome to DF, Lesh! :D

Thanks Lesh! I went to Microsoft's website and download the software, ran it and everything seems fine.
Ah yes, it is great being able to download directly from the internet. I remember the days when software was only available via diskette! (Never mind CD-Rom )

I hate to admit this, but in my experience Microsoft's sypware remover catches a lot more than ad-aware and spybot. :(

Please explain. Are you saying that it also picks up legitimage software?

Nope. I mean it works the way it's supposed to. And in my experience it does it better than the other two products

Ah. I despise Microsoft. Have you heard the joke:
If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashes... oh wait, he does!
Granted, the NT line is a lot better, but still...

I used to love it when my dad brought home punch cards!

We used to use mylar(very shiny, can't tear it).
One day at work someone filled my briefcase with it
and I happened to open it before I left work. It
practically exploded open because he had put so
much in. I quickly took it to his office and tied it
to everything in the office. It looked like someone
had decorated his office like a Christmas tree. His
office was the first office everyone saw as they went
for coffee in the morning. I came in the next day
to find him standing in the middle of it in wonder.
It took him most of the morning to get rid of it
because I tied to everything I could find. He had
to cut every knot with scissors.
