Okay. I did not know how to do the hustle and samba when the music played at the ballroom dance I went to last night!!! Not a satisfactory situation for me. Something that needed remedying...

Tonight at a dance party with friends I figured out how to move around the dance floor in promenade position, and how to do a followers outside turn while promenading around the floor. However when I start trying to do a turn as a couple from closed position I lose the music and I get messed up. Anyone out there who could break it down / pass hints on getting this?

Hmm. Could you clarify a little? Do you mean a rotating basic box? Or are you talking about a step that looks like passing twinkles --lead on inside of turn, while follow "runs" around, then vice versa? Or are you talking about samba rolls -- where partners are in close body contact and essentially roll around each other, bending at the knees, with lead and follow alternately on top? Or something else? Please describe. :)

Okay. So it's been a couple days. I'l take that as feedback that my descriptions of samba patterns were very, very bad.

So here are some video clips you can take a look at. I suspect what you're talking about is the right or left turning boxes, which are in the bronze syllabus. The other steps I described are in silver, I think.

Take a look. I think what you want is under samba basic movements. :D
