I checked DF last night before I went to bed. Marked everything read.

Today when I checked DF I saw there were some unread threads. When I clicked on DA, there was one thread marked as not read. But I realized that there were other posts that I had not read. For some reason threads were marked as read when they were not actually read.

Then when I went back to the main heading to click on another section, everything was marked as read. BUt there were definately a lot of threads that I had not even seen yet.

Any idea what is causing threads to be marked as read even though I have not read them?

I've seen the same thing. I haven't experimented enough with it to know for sure, but it seems that if you visit a forum, it marks all the threads on that forum read whether you actually read them or not. However, you don't see this until you close your Web browser and then open it back up. I'm guessing it has to do with the various security measures that browsers implement nowdays for cookie security, but I need to play with it a bit more.

Further data point: I went to the ballroom forum, read a thread, and then minimized the window for a while (I am at work, after all  ). I had five or six unread threads at the time. I didn't close the browser. About an hour later, I re-opened the window, read one thread, and replied to it. After the reply, when I came back to the contents page, all the threads were marked read.

There is a session timeout that I've noticed since the upgrade. If the browser senses no action (i.e. no mouse clicks on links) then it will render the session dead after 15 minutes. When you come back to the window, if more than 15 minutes have passed, the browser will only show threads that have had updates since your last mouse click. Anything that you hadn't read prior to that click is considered "read", since it existed during your last session...

...if that makes sense. I'm having issues with writing coherent sentences today.

Basically we need to log out if we want the threads to be marked correctly?

Is this what you are implying?

If you want to be absolutely certain that you aren't missing anything, then pretty much. Most of the time, closing the browser window will do the same thing, though occasionally a thread or two may get missed.
