I happened to catch college gymnastics on ESPN today (yes, I am having a major "couch potato" day...) and one of the gymnasts chose "Sway" for her floor exercise routine. I thought that was interesting...

Something along the lines of "Tumbling with the Stars..." If we thought it was hard getting Master P into ballroom shoes, imagine asking him to suit up for the pommel horse...

Actually, in a similar vein, I caught a show on tv just before heading out to dance last night. It was a figure skating and gymnastics special sponsored by Hilton hotels. It was fun to watch...especially a sport acrobatics demo. It's basically a cross between dance, gymnastics and cirque du soleil-esque acrobatics. See an example here (http://www.topsacro.com/videos/ascombined2004.wmv). The song was Nina Simone's version of "Feelin' Good".

Wow- how strong do you have to be for that?!

It must be tricky to work the balance beam in ice skates! (I'm kidding.) :)

I was at another studio recently and the woman I was talking to said they used "Sway" in her Rumba class. I said "that's funny, we use it in Cha-Cha where I normally dance."

What a versatile song.

"Sway" can be danced both as a chacha and a rumba, like all rumbas can be danced as chachas.
