Hey....I can take 3-4 hours of this show. It would save me from re-watching the same few dances over and over. Well, at least *one* of the dances :)

Hello, everyone. I'm brand new and felt inspired to join, although I warn you, I am not computer savvy...hope I can learn to do this. I just wanted to say I have never seen such an incredible forum...truly. What a wonderful way to pass time chatting about what we love with such informative, entertaining, amazing people! Thank you so much for that, and I wish everyone a year of dreams coming true.

Thank you so much for making me feel so welcome...see? Amazing, indeed. I'm enjoying the DWTS show and I watched it last season. Where else would I get the chance to see the wonderful professionals? More than that, I love the wonderful banter, fun and information on the boards as a result!

I'm pretty sure I read on ABC site that they don't start doing two dances until the 5th week when they have the group V. waltz.

That sounds like a much more accurate source than mine. :)
Just for laughs, I read through the message board on the Dancing with the Stars website. Some of the fans are reporting they're voting for Master P irrespective of how he dances, just so they can control the outcome of the show. They also said they are telling all their friends to vote for Master P too, and "Vote for Master P" websites are starting to spring up. I ran searches on Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask Jeeves, and it seems a number of radio stations have "Vote for Master P" hype on their sites, as do other sites.

Does anyone think the show will return if he should win???
I bet ABC execs are all huddled in a conference room pondering this. Crisis mode!

Probably not. And even if it did, I wouldn't watch it.

I think the weight of his fans votes will become less and less as the number of contestants dwindles. Right now, the people who don't want to see him back have to split their votes between 7 other contestants. But as that number dwindles, so will the power of his fans to keep him on the show.
I bet ABC execs are loving the controversy he is causing surrounding the show. It gets people talking about it. Even the ones who are mad about it, are still talking about it.
I was watching Private Parts the other night on cable, the movie about Howard Stern. And when he first started climbing in the ratings, it was the listeners who hated him who they said listened for the longest. The reason? They wanted to see what he would say next.
Same thing with Master P. Even the people who hate him, want to see what debacle he'll perform this week. So they'll watch, just to see what he'll do next.

I think the following people are going to do the following dances.
Paso Doble:
Tia & Maksim
Stacey & Tony
Lisa & Louis
George & Edyta
Foxtrot:
P & Ashly
Jerry & Anna
Drew & Cheryl
So remember; this is only speculation!!
This is based on the fact that they alternately dance a ballroom and a latin dance. And because they always start with the latin, I think Lisa will go back to her old group.

A friend of Louis's told me Louis and Lisa will be dancing a Paso Doble.
Well, I really messed up this week. My lesson is currently scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Thursday. I wasn't thinking when I scheduled the appointment. I'm hoping that because another student moved her lesson from Thursday to Tuesday, that I can move my lesson up.

Why in the h-e-double hockey sticks would anyone think Thriller is a Paso Doble?
Um, maybe for the same reason they think the "Rocky" theme or "Eye of the Tiger" are Paso--they're morons. :D
Um, maybe for the same reason they think the "Rocky" theme or "Eye of the Tiger" are Paso--they're morons. :D
I agree. Why can't they use different versions of what is traditionally considered paso doble? For example, there's a nice version of Espana Cani on the "Shall We Dance?" soundtrack.
I wonder how you would get the paso doble timing and figures to fit "Thriller"?
They just adjust the tempo or accentuate certain beats, I guess.

I wonder if Drew will do a moonwalk. Or some of the zombie choreography from the video. It's not paso, but hey, what the heck. They might has well have fun with it.

I wonder if Drew will do a moonwalk.
Cheryl too! It's definitely possible (and not too hard) to moonwalk in 3.5" heels. Backward and side to side, at least...forward is a bit of a pain though.
I think they should go for it. :)
Cheryl: Dancer's Blog

It went great last week! I couldn't ask for anything more from Drew -- he did such an amazing job on the jive. I couldn't believe the extra oomph he put into it. I was like, "Whoa, where'd that come from?" He had total control, really gave it his all, had fun, and it showed in our great scores. I'm very happy. I have to say if we were ever asked to do a dance of our choice, it would be jive. It's become our absolute favorite.
This week is the paso doble. For me, the first day of training for this dance was a little frustrating because we didn't get through all the choreography like usual -- we only got halfway through, which is slower than I would've liked. We're doing the dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller," which is not normally what you would dance the paso doble to.
We're adding some Thriller-type moves and going for a creative routine. It's not as high energy a dance as the last few that we've done -- not like the jive or the quickstep. It's a more dramatic dance, a more difficult dance than what we've done. Drew will need to display "arrogance" for this dance -- he'll have to sell it and be in character for this dance. We'll see a different side of Drew...the crowd's going to love how we interpret this dance.
And apparently they are - yeah! Go Drew and Cheryl!

Finally get my turn on the computer! I'm really looking forward to tomorrow night's show. Especially to Master P's Paso, as that's what I've heard he'll be doing. Forgive the feeble joke, but the marching should go well for him, shouldn't it? ....sorry.

Not really thrilled with George's paso; he wore a mask and it was a little distracting to me. Edyta was her usual incredible self. He just didn't match her intensity. I guess he can't, really.

I agree--the song was based on Norah Jones' version of "Cold, Cold Heart" from her first cd. Just an odd song to hear in these circles, I think--it was written by Hank Williams.

Many people here have said that significant training in a solo dance, like the ballet Stacey has done, can make the concept of sharing control of your movement with a partner more difficult.

I thought it was especially good considering how completely, utterly lame the band was on that. Behind the beat, no snap to the downbeat at all, and it sounded like the vocals were taped. If it had been me, I'd have to stop in the middle of the dance and go over there and play it myself!
