Just wanted to share the following two links with you to see photos from our latest belly dance performance.

I'm the one in the red top with the bare belly. This photo was taken a few days before the performance.

Cool pictures, DDL. How about some videos??? Hard to appreciate bellydancing in full without seeing the movement. Any?

I have video on VHS, but I don't have the slightest clue how to get that into a format that is web viewable. If someone can explain how, I'd be happy to look into it. We're hoping to have a troupe website soon, so I'll have more pictures and info then...and maybe video (if someone explains how).

To get your VHS to web-viewable:
Easiest way: ship your VHS off and have somebody else do the digitization
Homebrew way: run the video-out cable of your VCR into a video capture card on your computer and record the incoming signal. Ya gotta have the tools, the time, and the know-how.
There might be some tricksy way to get around this if you had a vhs<->dvd recorder, and then ripping the dvd. Long and short, it's hard.

Or if you have a digital recorder (lots of cameras have them), you can play it on your TV and just record the image like a normal video. Then upload to your computer like normal, and voila! Slightly lower quality, but it's easy-peasy.

Okay, I sometimes consider myself to be technically savy...this is not one of those times.
I recorded the performance on my personal video camera (which goes to a little tape). Then I hooked up my video camera to the input of the VCR and made the VHS tape.
Can I just hook my video camera up to the computer and do it that way? How do I know if it has a digital recorder?
If that doesn't work, I think there is someone I work with who can make VHS into DVD. If I had the performance on DVD, then could I load it to the computer?
