Hi guys, I've spent the last few weeks fishing around the net trying to find materials on Blues dancing. While I've never seen the style I've read that it is a fairly close and sensual dance style and I'd like to potential use the style as a bit of inspiration in my current dancing (old time cerocer learning Lindy and Salsa at the moment).

Unfortunately I'm stuck in Singapore and I can't find any materials about blues dancing or teachers here. Can anyone direct me to any DVDs / VCDs / video's or website so that I could obtain / purchase some materials to give me an idea as to what blues dancing is.

Cheers

Blues is a slow, sensual form of swing in Europe. I'm sure someone like d nice will know the answer. I think Marcus and Barbl have a tape on Blues dancing.

I don't know any instructional video's I can recommend to learn from but PBS just did a Blues series with a few clips of vintage blues dancing. It should be available on dvd shortly. The movie St. Louis Blues has a short clip of blues dancing in the begining (the slow drag, possibly the oldes form of blues dancing).

The are traveling instructors who teach modern blues dancing which tend sto be either a mix of lindy hop mixed with ballroom dances or a "groovy" style that is only somewhat related to earlier forms like the mooche.

There are isntructors who have studied and teach the vintage styels as well as the modern styles... Steven Mitchell, myself (Damon Stone), Bill Borgida etc.

Alternatively you can pick up some of the lindy descendant dances like West Coast Swing, Hand Dancing or Carolina Shag and get an idea on ways of modifying what you already know to fit blues music.

If you have any specific questions I'll help you the best I can.
