View Full Version : So, why not score the Viennese Waltz?

I heard that the stars will be dancing a group Viennese Waltz formation this week. Like the salsa, I assume the dance won't be scored. However, this brings a question to mind. Why doesn't the show have Viennese Waltz as one of the individual scored dances? The dance is considered more advanced, but not any more advanced than Samba and Quickstep in my opinion. I don't think V Waltz was scored last year either. I can understand why salsa is not scored since it's a club dance. However, Viennese Waltz seems inexplicably left out when the entire standard and latin syllabus is danced.

Probably because they've always only scored one dance per week, and as they have fewer couples, they need to fill the rest of the show with more dancing. This way, the celeb's can focus on doing one dance well-enough to "count", and the other to enjoy (I guess).
Pray that George H. doesn't fall ;-)

Yeah, exactly. And think of the damage he could do to poor Edyta.

Perhaps because the female celebs would have a big advantage over the male celebs in V. Waltz in this set-up and timeframe.

And if he hurts Edyta badly enough, then poor Alec will be out of a partner. Maybe I should turn pro!:raisebro:

I suppose V. Waltz might be a more fun dance to watch as a group formation than some of the other dances. If they don't add in much open choreography (I hope) most of the dance would be the same 4-5 steps or so just whirling around and around. It's a dance where they can do all sorts of over-head camera work--sort of 1930s movie musical-like.
