Yea . . . I saw the show . . .
I am such a big fan of Jerry Rice, but I'd guess he'll be next???

I sure hope so, sorry.
I like Lisa so much, she's definately a better dancer than him, and Louis has to keep the Dutch end up. But I'm afraid they will have to leave, because of Jerry's enormous popularity.
For people who don't feel like thinking about whose dancing what:
Lisa and Louis: Cha Cha Cha and Tango or Cha Cha Cha and Slow Foxtrot
Stacey and Tony: Cha Cha Cha and Quickstep or Paso Doble and Quickstep
Drew and Cheryl: Rumba and Waltz or Rumba and Slow Foxtrot
Jerry and Anna: Rumba and Waltz or Rumba and Tango
(The couples are in order of who I like best)

ITA. I'd rather this does not happen but it seems inevitable. As long as Stacy is in the final, this DWTS addict will rest happy. :)

I was just browsing the ABC message boards and read a post from a guy who claimed he voted for Stacy on 12 different phones! He has 5 phones including cell phones in his house, then he goes to a friend who has 5 phones as well, and then he votes on 2 pay phones!!! Talk about dedication. I found this too hilarious

Personally, I hope that Lisa goes this week. That's just because she irritates the bejeezus out of me though.
Really, my only hope is that Drew's wife doesn't decide to pop out that baby for another two weeks because it would be such a shame for him to withdraw if she goes into labour. (Completely understandable, of course, but still such a shame)

I love watching DWTS courtesy of Raphael's website - it has so much more class than Strictly Come Dancing and it is a real treat for me.
Lisa all the way! I LOVE her . . . okay I love Louis, but that isn't the point! Let the final be true to the DANCING, not popularity (as is the case over here in the UK) !

Completely agreed. I thought that Zoe or Colin should have one in the UK. Darren was a great dancer, but Zoe and Colin were without a doubt better.
I am also voting from Louis in stead of Lisa :p
Don't know whether you knew this, but you can vote once per e-mail address on the Internet. It can be done until noon Eastern Time or something. Well, if you vote before noon in the UK it's always good.

I doubt he'll withdraw, but if she gives birth, how much do you bet there will be a scene with Drew holding the new baby?

That would be very sweet. I'm just going by an interview that he did a couple of weeks ago where he said he would withdraw from the competition if his wife went into labour.

I know... I hope that they both make it to the finals (i.e. no baby-popping to prevent that) and that they both dance well...and the one with the best dances that night wins. That's it. That's all I hope for. That would make me happy.

How so? (Asking as someone who has never seen SCD so is curious)
Becca
02-12-2006, 05:30 PM
I find the standard of dancing so much higher in DWTS, and the professional demonstrations are so much more breathtaking.
SCD can sometimes appear a little tacky in the way it is presented, with all the lame jokes being made taking up the time in which we should be hearing the judges comments.
But that's only my opinion. I know however that I am not the only one who prefers DWTS.
Larinda McRaven

Probably because we are a country that is comfortable and proficient with pro-am to begin with.

In a hurry, so not sure if this is the right place...but for those of you who have a tv on....drew/cheryl are on ellen right now. They did their "shut up" tango. He did much better frame-wise/shoulder-wise, but only found one heel lead this time! But, good for them...Ellen is SO into dancing!

According to Cheryl's blog, they also danced at Disneyland sometime this week, doing the jive and paso in front of Cinderella's Castle. That must have been so cool!

Ya, and the owner said he'd make clients call in using their cell phones as well ;) Thursday night is very popular in Starlite & I was counting if everyone voted the maximum votes, it's easily few thousand right there!

Hmm, I wonder if they way people vote will change during the final. Up to now it has been a little bit of a popularity contest with stars with large fan bases staying in over those who may be better dancers. But once we get to the finals, will people continue to vote for their favorite or will they change and vote for the best dancer?

Larinda McRaven

While we're on commercial and I actually have time to type this...
Alec hasn't been very impressed with Stacey. He said that she's not as good as he thought she would be, given her dance experience.
George, to sum it up, was great with everything except the actual dancing, LOL.
He says Cheryl's got an easy job--Drew's so motivated and so talented that she doesn't really have to teach him anything, just point him in the right direction.
Thought y'all might enjoy that.;)

Larinda McRaven
02-16-2006, 08:54 PM

Stacey's basic cha technique is hurtin'. Did you see those locks! However, that bod is smokin!

Right now, Stacy and Drew each have 4 points
Lisa has 2
Jerry has 1
Say Stacy and Drew get the top two spots with the viewers calling in
and Jerry gets the next highest, Lisa least number of votes
Jerry gets 2 points
Lisa gets 1 point
Lisa and Jerry would be tied at 3 but tie breaker goes to audience vote = Jerry wins.

Sorry I missed the gang again this week, but we actually had a lesson... who'd a thunk it...
Just watched the tape. I've got to say that the tango that Jerry and Anna had to dance to is absolutely the worst tango song I've ever heard. Somewhere, Debbie Harry is throwing bricks at her TV set. Maybe Jerry could have done a good tango, maybe not, but that awful song clinched the deal.
We had a power failure or something, and the VCR cut off in the middle of Jerry's rumba. Did Anna take after Len with a quarterstaff or something? And was Lisa's Latin outfit even more revealing than her foxtrot outfit? (BTW, I thought her foxtrot was wonderfully subtle and understated... the best dance she's done on the show.)

Dances of the night? Drew and Cheryl Foxtrot, beautiful. Jerry and Anna Rumba. She was incredible, and he didn't stink it up.

I still can't get through to Jerry's line.....
I voted 10 times for Jerry (2 phones) ;) If anyone is an "underdog", it's him. Took quite a while to get through, so hopefully that's a good sign. Maybe it's just me, but it's as if Stacy and Lisa can do no wrong now. Has Lisa improved? Yes, but she still has issues. Stacy has had some moments of greatness, but she has made getting a 10 almost meaningless. Her Cha wasn't quite there, and her QS was "eh". Has anyone else noticed that she seems to dance better apart from Tony? It was especially noticeable in the Jive. It's as if the connection throws her off.
*LOVED* Anna's latin dress. I want!

General comments....
Regardless of the scores, Lisa's cha was more of a cha than Stacey's.
I'm typically impressed by Stacey's dancing but tonight I was not. Undoubtedly the doubling up of dances will have cost all of them something in the quality of each individual dance.
Overall Drew had the best night. For someone who seems to prefer the ballroom dances to the Latin though, I can't figure out why heel leads are missing in almost all of his ballrom dancing. :?
The Latin dress on Anna that everyone likes is one of her own.
Anna's comment to Len regarding the "tango" music was great. Still liked how Jerry stood up for himself even better though, it was softer and more dignified. Why Lenn was directing his criticism of using the broom to Jerry is beyond me... does Lenn think Jerry was doing the choreography?
I think we'll be saying goodbye to Lisa...

Yup. I wasn't a fan of the squeals from earlier weeks, but we didn't get any this week. She was underscored tonight while Stacey was overscored. Add that to Jerry's fan support, and it looks like bye-bye Lisa.
Dancing-wise Jerry should be out, but as P proved to us all, dance quality has nothing to do with how many, many perople vote. That said, I can't fault Jerry's efforts or attitude and, if he's in the final, it will be fair to say that he's worked as hard as anyone else to get there.

wow...I'm impressed that you managed to get through. I couldn't deal with it after 1/2 hour of busy signals, so I gave up an went to bed.
We had a similar discussion about Stacy's open work in last week's discussion with pretty much everyone in agreement that her open work was much stronger than her partner work. I'm sure her years of jazz dancing was behind that. I still can't get over her rock steps in cha cha being basically nothing more than a straight back step and a mild tap forward. She seemed to have it down in rumba. Oh well...maybe it's the 2 dances/1 week shining through.

Now that I've gotten home and watched the tape of the show:
Wow. Before tonight I would have been absolutely delighted to keep Jerry and bid goodbye to Lisa. But she did surprisingly well tonight.
Who'da thunk it? Not I, that's for sure.
Quote of the night (possibly paraphrased):
"Well of course it wasn't a proper tango, it was Blondie for goodness sake!"
I have to wonder, conspiracy theorist that I am... Is the crappy music picked on purpose? I had thought the music picker (whoever that may be, musical director or producer or whoever) was just clueless. But now I'm starting to think they pick a horrible song for the couple they want off, and good songs for the people they want to stay. Why it took me so long to start thinking that, guess I'm more innocent than I thought.

I've noticed something funny about Stacey's posture when she does standard. It's not bad, but: She seems to be trying to keep her back and her neck board-straight. It's like she's flashing back to her first-grade posture lessons, where they made you balance a book on your head. When I started dancing, one of the first things my instructor had to do was get me past the idea that the proper posture for dancing is the same as the proper posture for a beauty contest. Interestingly, Stacey seems to be OK when she's doing Latin; it just happens when she's doing standard.

That so-called tango that they stuck Jerry and Anna with was the worst piece of music anyone has had to dance to in the show's history to date. Conspiracy theorists, make of this what you will. It's possible that Jerry would not have done any better with "Hernando's Hideway", but then again, he might have. As it was, he didn't have a chance.

I've heard the show does choose- that producers give them a short list to pick from and that if the couples want something different they have to put up a heck of a fight to get it and usually they are stuck with what they are given. I think George was one who demanded to have real paso music that one week. At least that's what I heard.

i think its pretty obvious that the station decides who stays and who goes, and that our votes don't matter. think about it, Master P has a HUGE beyond HUGE fan base, and im sure that the viewers would've loved to see him in the finals because despite how bad he was, he was entertaining to watch, but the station kicked him off because they know he wasnt a dancer and this is a competition... our votes don't matter.
As far as this weeks DWTS, i think stacey's cha cha was off... don't get me wrong, she definitely a favorite of mine, but her gorgeous long legs were bent almost the entire dance, and we all know that cha cha is all about the straight knees and quick cheeky footwork. and i don't she did as well as she did in the previous episodes... IMO...
Drew and Cheryl are amazing... i think he is so talented and he tackles any task that she puts in front of him... his ballroom is great, and his latin as well... i think her choreography is great, especially for him because he's doing VERY well... although, when it comes down to the final two, im sure we can all agree that Drew and Stacey will be the final two, that it will be a hard choice...
Lisa and Louis are getting better and better... she really is trying and i think she definitely has the potential to be in the final 3.. besides, i love louis, seen him on broadway (latin fusion) twice, and had a few seminars with him and he's truely gifted....
Jerry and Anna aren't too shabby... i think shes soo cute and he is very brave for attempting dancing... from football to ballroom is a drastic change.. go Jerry! as great as he himself is, i dont see him making it to the final tonight.. IMO...
Can't wait til tonights eliminations.... !!!!

I watched every dance last night start to finish and even though I don't love Lisa I can't see why anyone would keep Jerry over her. The guy is a nice guy and all but for goodness sake he just doesn't have the right moves! It also doesn't help that his partners head reaches his belt buckle because that makes them look even more awkward. Anytime I watch him dance it makes me uncomfortable, kinda like watching a big girl trying to dance sexy ( I can say that because I AM a big girl :( )
Stacy did well last night but sometimes I think her 41 inches of legs get in her way, she comes off looking odd in some of her moves.
Lisa must have been told to quit squealing because I think she made an EFFORT not to do it and I was thankful.
Drew was definitely throwing latin vibes but I loved both his dances and he got my votes!
Last but not least, if I could choose, I think I would want Cheryl's body. She looks stunning in those low cut backless dresses!
