Attitude
—Charles Swindoll

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company…a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent is how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes!

I totally agree... it's the one thing we have complete and utter control over and can't blame anyone else for and it makes the biggest difference.

I've read this one before. I liked it a lot and actually have a copy at work due to some of the tensions that arise from one co-worker grating on others nerves -- not mine -- I have the attitude -- remember!!! 8) and the poster to remind me when I start getting overwhlemed with negative energies, before I turn that around.

I like the sond bite version as a personal mini-mantra: "Life is 10% how you make it and 90% how you take it!"

I love my little poster...
It has a stork on it, and the stork is trying to swallow a frog. She's so tinyand can't get away, but she manages to squeeze his throat with her hand. It says "NEVER GIVE UP"
Sometimes it save smy day

Why We Should Believe
[Source Unknown]

She is 92 years old, petite, well poised, and proud. She is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coiffed, and her makeup perfectly applied, in spite of the fact that she is legally blind. Today she has moved to a nursing home. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making this move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, where I am employed, she smiled sweetly when told here room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet curtains that had been hung on her window.

"I love it," she stated witht the enthusiasm of an eaight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room...just wait," I said.

Then she spoke these words I will never forget: "That does not have anything to do with it," she gently replied. "Hapiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not, does not depend on how the furniture is aranged. It is how I arrange my mind. I have already decided to love it. It is a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice. I can spend the day in bed recounting the dificulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or I can get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do work. Each day is a gift, and as long as my esyes open, I will focus on the new days and the happy memories I have stored away... just for this time in my life. Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you have already put in.

SDSalsaGuy, Thanks for posting this quote! I needed it today! I've always heard attitude determines altitude...but really attitude determines attitude!

My pleasure mhgroove... glad that it was of help. Indeed, life is 10% how we make it and 90% how we take it.

Best wishes always,

Jonathan

Thanks for those two stories. This is something that I struggle with at times, so it's nice to have a reminder around when I'm feeling frustrated. Will put them both on my fridge!!
