If you were to give a CD to an ex that you compiled yourself, what song/mp3 would this CD have to have?

For Enquiring Minds I am not going through a breakup  just inspired by seeing a top 40 songs programme (yep, they somehow manage to find a new angle all the time!) and Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive" featured. I also happen to love Celia Cruz's salsa version but that would not be news to some of you ;), still, I digress

Louis Armstrong's "What a wonderful world" also featured in this programme. I would probably include that song on CD!

lol. For an ex or about an ex? If about, then I'd have to go with "I Used to Love Him (Now I Don't)" by Lauren Hill featuring Mary J. Blige.

If for, I'd have to go with something a lot more introspective, like "at Last" by Etta James because it's romantic or "All I Ever Ask" by Najee featuring Freddie Jackson, because it was "our" song or pretty much anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn or "The Grey Ghost" because he likes them.

My deal? An ex is an ex. In the past. There's no point in adding to the pain. Why not add to the healing? So, if I were making a CD for him, it'd be sweet stuff or nice stuff. Nothing mean or vindictive, although I have to admit the thought crossed my mind.

Sorry, to hear about the breakup Pacion. I guess the song selection would have to depend on what type of message you're trying to convey to them. Are you wanting to reunite?

Sorry, to hear about the breakup Pacion. I

  Thanks GalacticDancer, but I am NOT going through a breakup (recheck my original post ;)) 90% of me does associate the song "I will survive" with breaking up though. There was an interview with Gloria Gaynor who was saying she was on stage, fell off and came round to discover that she was paralyzed from the waist down. This happened just before "I will survive" was released. The lyrics of the song took on a new significance for her.

So Pygmalion... excuse my innocence, but what songs are there where the lyrics could be considered vindictive? :?

Ooops! Sorry Pacion. Glad things are going well for you! I sometimes catch myself seeing the glass half empty sometimes! LOL This time, you caught me!

I've come to notice on Match.com that all the single people see the glass half filled! What's up with that? :)

No worries ;)

Perhaps because there isn't another person there to drink the other half of the contents of the glass?

"You lied, you dog. And you'll be sorry."

"You'll never find another love like mine."

And so on and so on. The vindictive songs are definitely out there.

"You lied, you dog. And you'll be sorry."

I read this and instantaneously thought of no less than 10 country songs.

I'm sure if I took the time, I could come up with a pretty good list for my ex. But I have other more productive things to attend to. ;)

Yep. What's that song on the charts now? You shoulda thought about that when you were cheatin? Uhhh. Another good one.

But you're right, MTM. Who has time to think about that, when there's a career to promote, a family to care for, a social life to maintain, and a personal life to nurture. Let him go to ... wherever bad guys go. lol.

I hate to admit it, but a couple weeks ago "I Will Survive" came on the radio and I listened attentively to the lyrics. Bear in mind that I have never been a fan of disco; it rates about even with country and both rate above hip-hop and rap.

For the ex? That person does not exist in my universe.

Bonnie Raitt, "I Can't Make You Love Me"--if the ex is the one who did the breaking up.

Purgatory? A room full of lawyers and paperwork? A bad salsa club? Some would argue it's all the same thing...

Ouch! What has a lawyer done to you to merit such a comment from someone so young!

As with all professions, there are "good" ones and there are "bad" ones. Having a good one as a friend is always a good idea.

Having a "bad salsa club" as a friend, does sound quite the same ;)

Well if you use mp3 format you could put 750 or so songs? What 750 sngs would you put Pacion? Now if we were talking of a DVD? I thinkw e should skip that. :-)

Sagitta dearest, is that 750 songs or 750 snogs :raisedeybrows:

Nah, there would probably be just the one possibly two, if he was lucky

Too many dances to have/too many books to read/ too many movies to see/too many men to oogle (!) to spend time making a 750 song CD for "What's his face".

The one song I might choose? "It's raining men" by the Weather Girls

I think it's better to show a positive attitude as opposed to a negative one - not that seeing things half empty is overly negative, but perhaps somewhat pessimistic. It probably makes that slight positive difference in outlook that people will infer from the perspective of the person whose profile you're reading. If someone thinks you're a "glass half full" person, then they can see you as being happy with youself and perhaps less needy. They look for the good in every situation.

I'm surprised you didn't have an opinion on this GD44M. You were quick to be analytical in the dreams thread. :|

"Dear Boy" by Paul McCartney. (I'm assuming he wrote it for Linda's ex).
