There is this one kind of song that says like "to the left, right right," and stuff like that. It like teaches you how and what to do. Does anyone know that song with the to the left thing?

Man! I cannot remember the name of that song! You mean the country and western line dance that starts with a forward- back cha cha cha and ends with different numbers of hops? Anybody remember the name? I'll try to google it. :?

Excerpt from the lyrics:

CASPERSLIDE

Lyrics:

Let's do it!!!

This is something new, the casper slide part 2, featuring the Platinum Band and this time we're gonna get funky funky, funky funky.

Everybody clap your hands, clap clap clap clap your hands, clap clap clap clap your hands.

All right now we're gonna do the basic steps, to the left, take it back now ya'all, one hop this time, right foot left stomp, left foot left stomp, cha cha real smooth.

Turn it out, to the left, take it back now ya'all, one hop this time, right foot left stomp, left foot left stomp, cha cha now ya'all.

I LOVE this dance! So much fun!

Hmm..this post raises an intersting topic: What other songs explain how to do a dance?

- Macarena
- Hokey Pokey

Others?

Did you hear that the fellow that invented the Hokey-Pokey died recently? They had a problem at the funeral home, though. When the undertaker put the fellow's left foot in, he put his left foot out.

It's just a jump, to the left.
And then a step to the right
You put your hands on your hips
And bring your knees in tight
You do the pelvic thrust
It really drives 'em insane
Let's do the Time Warp again!

I have never heard of the Time Warp, but it sounds like fun! :D

Just thought of another one, kindof...Tootsie Roll by 69Boyz

To the left, to the left
To the right, to the right
To the front, to the front
To the back, to the back
Now dip, baby, dip
Come on let's dip, baby, dip
Now slide, slide, slide, slide
?????
The butterfly, oh-oh let's go...let me see that tootsie roll

I think there's supposed to be a "roll with it" in there somewhere as well.

There is a song that Annette Funicello sings in the movie "Back to the Beach" detailing a dance called Jamaican Ska.

Anyone ever done it?

Yep! Sort of. Ska is actually a type of music that originated in the dance clubs of Kingston, Jamaica in the early 60s. It's what eventually evolved into Reggae. Ska was revived in the late 70s by bands like The Specials, Madness and The English Beat. The song Annette sang was being played by a band called Fishbone.

There is a 60's song about dancing the Watusi.

While it can't be termed dancing another song that does come to mind is the hit by The 1910 Fruit Gum Company "Simon Says".

I know there's a line dance to Watermelon Crawl, but I don't know how to do it...I'll have to check the "kick it line dance" website and see what I can find.
