Hello to everyone,

Basically I want to learn to dance Salsa, and I wouldn't mind picking up some Bachata and Merengue as well, but Salsa is on top of my list. My girl is interested in learning as well so that might be an advantage as well as she is a beginner and we could practice together. I don't have two left feet (although trying the first time to dance salsa it would seem as if i did), but I want to learn the basics and improve on it, I tried dancing it before at some clubs but it wasn't very serious, just a girl trying to get me to dance to some Spanish music when she knew I couldn't. Basically I am from the Chicago area are there good places I can go to learn, or recommendations on where to go and who to see. There are many good clubs around here that play salsa, just not sure where I should go to get some direction.

BTW, on1 vs. on2.. I did a search it seems like on2 is more fluid should i try to learn that style, whats the difference.

THanks for helping out a noob

You're lucky you're in Chicago b/c Sekou McMiller is there, too. He's an amazing teacher. I took a workshop from him on a salsa cruise and it was amazing.

Here's the site for his company:

and here's a useful Chicago resource:
