Did anyone else realise this or did it pass you by, like it did me?
WASHINGTON - Call it a coincidental sign of our digital times or a reason to stay up late and stare at the clock. Either way, early Wednesday morning the time and date will be 01-02-03-04-05-06.
At 1:02 a.m. and three seconds on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, it will be the first hour of the day, the second minute of the hour, the third second of that precious minute in the fourth month and the fifth day of ... uh oh. It's not really the sixth year.
It's actually 2006 — only in our shorthand is it '06.

Lovin it. I won't catch the 03 part, since my watches and clocks just don't do that. But the 01-02 is a distinct possibility, given my IRU track record.

Somehow I'm guessing that I won't have any trouble being up to catch this... although, like Jenn, I dnon't think I have any clocks that'll show the 03 either. :?

I always prefered the 12:34:56 July(7) 8,' 90 of course it'll be along time before that happens again...

1:02:03 4/5/6 just has a element of simplicity to it....a very lighthearted grace. or maybe it's time for me to take some nyquill and go to bed already. :p

I slept right through it.
You'll only get the 01:02:03 04-05-06 thing in the US. In most of the rest of the world it'll be 01:02:03 05-04-06. :D

good point.
On that note, I know a number of international students who were able to drink before their 21st bday in the US bc bouncers didn't notice that the month and day were "backwards"...of course that only works if you're born by the 12th day of a month.

In that case I could have drank two month early in the US.
Didn't matter so much to me anyway. In Germany kids are allowed to drink any alcohol that is not destilled starting at age 14 when under parental supervision and at age 16 drink and buy on their own. At 18 one is allowed to drink and buy anything.
In a lot of restaurants here in Germany it is the custom that one gets a little glass of liqueur after the meal (e. g. marsala in italian restaurans, ouzo in greek ones). Because I was always quite tall for my age they started to put a glass in front of me too by the time I was 9 or 10. (Naturally I didn't drank it at the time.)

Joe <cue> ::Pacion rolling her eyes:: so, are you saying that the rest of the world has to wait until May for this 01-02-03-04-05-06 to occur?

I never understood why the US peeps write months first. I mean, isn't it supposed to go with some sort of ascending order? day/month/year. Sounds far more logical to me.
T_E
I think it is because we say December 25th 2006,
not 25th December 2006.

Hell, we're the only ones who (officially) still use Imperial units of measurement, aren't we?

 Funny that! You (being the Americans in 18 what ever it was) "threw out the imperial mother country" and you kept the units of measurement ;)

So the date is coming up again soon, for our European friends. :D

Yes it is! :D but I will probably sleep at that time... Maybe I can find a 12-hour clock instead (that shows 01 instead of 13)? That is a much more convenient time than 1 am! 8)
