I just saw on the news that the new "buy your mp3's legally" website has flaws. There is some sort of program or site that can take the encrypted mp3 files and duplicate them and take them for free WOOPEE! Guess there really is no stopping this so called "theft" of mp3's

Well there are a lot of people out there who like the intellectual challenge of breaking encryption!!

The music industry really made a lot of people angry with the outrageous prices they charged for music, which encouraged people to look for other sources for their music fix. As technology made this easier the music industry just buried it's head in the sand. So, I'm not sympathetic at all.

I personally am always happy to buy CDs from local groups that produce their own CDs and other CDs where I know that the money is going to support the musicians. :)

Well.... in this case, breaking the encryption is simply an intellectual challenge as there really isn't any reason to. Even though I know I can probably find whatever I want for free, I feel .99 per track is a fair price to pay. I personally enjoy the service and if I wanted to duplicate what I bought, I don't need to break the encryption. All I have to do is simply burn a CD. Granted, breaking the encryption would be a challenge, however, the encryption is more or less a formality designed to prevent blatent stealing.
