The Sapphire Dancesport Championships will be held June 23 through June 24, 2006, at the Doubletree Hotel in Austin, Texas. The professional show will be by Victor Fung and Anna Mikhed, standard champions.

Has anyone participated in Sapphire Dancesport? Will anyone be going this year?

Oh man!! My twin sister, who lives in Austin, is moving to France on June 7. Darn!! There goes my chance at free accomodation.

Been there for the first event that Connie and Antony hosted a few years back. It is hard for organizers to take over an event. I suppose as they work it... it will get a little bigger each year.

Looking at it in a different light -- you now get free accomodation in France! ;)

There's a group of us that will be there, 3 pro/am students, including me, with the same pro, and one am/am couple. We're trying to figure out entries.

The entries have been sent in. I'm competing in all 4 styles of dancing, in just about every dance I know, or sort of know, depending on your point of view. But, if I only competed in those dances that I thought I was strong in, or would do well, I probably would never compete again. And, funny things have happened to me before at competition. The dance I thought I could count on blew up in my face. Or, I placed better than expected against a seasoned competitior. Or, I do well in a dance that isn't my best by a long shot. Anyway, I'm looking forward to competing again; it's been over 2 years since my last one.

Is anyone else going to this competition?
