There is a similar thread to this......... how long did it take to become pro ? I just need to find it.

You should get some useful information in there.

As to what course you should take ?
I think some, if not most, of the instructors started off as amateur dancers and excelled in their field and so decided to turn pro or loved it so much they made a career out of it.

It depends a lot on what country you are in.

There are several avenues you may explore-- first q.-- do you already dance to a competent level ?-- if so-- in which divsion ? Amer. or Intern. ?-- if not-- where do you wish to excel ?-- having answered those questions-- two choices-- most chain schools train for free-- but only at a basic level in the amer. style with continuing training to more advanced levels-- if intern style -- you must master the art of performance as a dancer as prof exams are based on theory and practical-- The chain schools will have you teaching in 6- 8 weeks--- Intern-- look to 2 yrs min from scratch-- and probably longer-- best wishes
