View Full Version : Latin shoes: What to do about the soles showing

I bought a pair of latin shoes that fit fine, except that the sole was too long in front and showed too much under my toes. I took them to a shoemaker and he cut off the end of sole. He had to take the sole apart, trim it, and put it back together, but it looks great. Of course, it added about $20 to the cost of the shoe, but I'm so hard to fit it was worth it!

You were smart to bring them to someone; I did it myself and it had somewhat disastrous results. Couldn't you just have returned the shoes, though?

I have such a hard time getting shoes that fit and my in-person options are very limited in my area, so I buy most of my shoes on-line. To get the same shoe in a different size, I'd have had to special order them and I didn't have time.
By the way, they are Eckse shoes, the first time I've tried that brand. I think I'm going to like them. They have a good solid heel that's well placed and the soles under the ball are padded but still very flexible. But they do seem to run a little bit big and wide. My foot is sort of between narrow and medium. I ordered a narrow and it is feels more like a medium.

Interesting...the Eckse's I bought seem to run a little narrow...in fact, it's one of the first shoes I've bought that I didn't actually have to order a narrow width.

Maybe it depends on whether you're buying court shoes or Latin?

Ooops. I feel stupid. Didn't read the thread title or the thread. Maybe it depends on the style of the shoe.
Although I would've thought they'd use the same last for all their Latin shoes. Most companies do, don't they? I'm confused. :?

*giggle* Everything I can think to say is borderline gross. So I'll just giggle and be done with it.
