Looks like you are in capable hands . . .

I was in your neck of the woods, about 20 miles away from Clarksville, just a few months ago. My brother lives in Boyds . . .

Good . . . what kind of dancing do you do?

I'm very much into dancing . . . any kind, anywhere . . . including car dancing, which you can find a lengthy discussion on here in the DF.

Welcome to the Forum Family! Seems you're already right at home with the crew...watch out, it gets addictive really fast! :D

Belly dance...me too!!! How long have you been belly dancing? What do you enjoy about it?

Me? About two years (I think) and I LOVE the beautiful/sensual movements paired with passionate emotions, sassy flirtations, and just overall fun!

you belly dance too?! AWESOME! i've been looking for some girls who belly dance... i've been doing it for quite a while actually... since i was five =) i love the whole letting go of yourself and just dancing and feeling your body move and your mind being free.... it's the best feeling in the world. i'm really good with my hips and i love the feeling of them just moving on their own... it's a great feeling... i dance everytime i feel down or angry... it really helps! and i agree with you... i love the sensual movements and passionate emotions... it says a lot and it's beautiful. and yes... sassy flirtations! haha... my boyfriend needs to see me belly dance =)

and thanks for the welcome! it's people like you guys who get me right at home =) and yes, i'm already addicted haha :D

Since you were five? Wow, that's so AWESOME! How did you get started at such a young age?

Have you read "Snake Hips" by Anne Thomas-Soffee (might be Soffee-Thomas)? It's FANTASTIC! It's a story about how she (Anne) found love for herself through belly dance, which she just kind of fell into by accident.

There's also a movie about a woman who finds herself through belly dance. It's called Satin Rouge. It's a foreign film and I can't find it anywhere near where I live. It's on my Christmas list and am hoping to either get it or get money to purchase it. Have you seen/heard of it?

Just thought of something else, I have a "You Know You're a Belly Dancer" list on my website (www.dancersdreamland.com). Follow this link to check it out: http://www.dancersdreamland.com/youknowbelly.htm

Let me know if there are other things to add to the list. :D

dr daffy
12-03-2003, 09:55 PM
YES! i've heard of both! i really wanna read the book and i've been dying to see the movie! it's on my christmas list too even though i don't even celebrate christmas lol.... i've been imitating shakira a lot too... i love her moves... but she's not that good... like she can do the basics but not much more... but she's still good =)

and yeah, i got started at a young age cuz it's common in my culture and i've been dancing since i was three and i got interested in belly dancing when my older friend started it... so i started with her haha =)
