Hello; Am new to this forum though I am old hat at some of the other forums on salsa. I live in New York and try to catch as many concerts and dance shows as I can. Here in New York, Eddie Palmieri will give a concert on August 4 at Lincoln Center. There are more shows but that one stands out. Try to make it up here if you can.
Last saturday, the 8th, I thought it would be great to drive up to Boston to catch a Tito Rojas show at the Club Lido.
As on old school salsero, I feel we have to give our musicians their props. but Saturday's show was, to be kind, a disappointment. Mr. Rojas was a bit less than sober ( too much Bacardi maybe) and during some of the songs he actually forgot some verses. A disappointment to be gentle, otherwise I had a great time. That's it from me for my first post, Take care. Canuco

I think Eddie is going to be in Brooklyn doing a free concert the last weekend of the month ... check your sources.
Don't know if you made the free Sonora Carruseles concert at Lincoln Center last Saturday ... it was off the heez ... mad talent ... hundreds of peeps dancing.

I'm sooooooooo jealous....
I think Eddie Palmieri's got a London date, but it looks like it's at a sit-down concert venue :(
This venue's also got Spanish Harlem Orchestra lined up later this year -- I hope there will also be a dance venue gig.

for those of you not familiar with his music, he also is very heavy into " latin jazz ", hence the sit down gigs . he is of the older school and highly regarded among musicians . Thanks for the posted dates .

Palmieri's music even if it's in a concert setting is always about dancing. You can always dance in the aisle. I do it, it's kind of different but you'd be surprised how many other couples also join in and start dancing.
It's true Eddie Palmieri plays at very few dance clubs nowadays but the music is still hot and is really some of the best Latin muse found anywhere.

I highly recommend Palmieri's concerts!!! Just saw him again at the Jazz Festival here in Newport News in April. I was also concerned about the concert hall setting but believe me, it doesn't matter! He and his bands (he has two different ones, I believe) are wonderful! We got seats in front right next to the isle and danced there in the corner. All other dancers also filled the corners of the concert hall.
He started off with Muņeca and the place was "cooking" with his first song. Yes, all his music is danceable, don't worry! You should not miss this!
We also saw him in Weinheim, Germany, 3 years ago, this time in a totally different setting, at an outdoor concert in a nice old patio belonging to a jazz club, with food and wine booths, on a beautiful warm and sunny Sunday afternoon in June! It was wonderful!! We had the greatest time! Also that time we had feared he would play all jazz since it was organized by a jazz club. No, it was all salsa and cha cha!

My one experience hearing Tito Rojas live caused a very bad hangover. I am afraid his best years are far behind him and booze, and maybe drugs, have taken their toll. I saw him on the same bill as Andy Montanez, and the contrast between the two of them was quite stark.
