I'm looking for information here, because I'm going to a YCN sponsored event in January, and all I know is that YCN is affilaited with USABDA. What is YCN, what does it do, and what is its mission or value in the US- based ballroom dance world. Anybody?

Check www.USABDA.org for details, but...
YCN is the Youth Collegiate Network, and as I understand the goals it is a way of promoting ballrooom dancing to highschool and college age dancers. The value to US-based ballroom dancing is that it will (hopefully) increase intereste in dancing, especially competative dancing.
Again, check the USABDA website, it should be well described.

Thanks, Kevin. I checked the website, as you suggested and got some good info. I'll also go to the event in January, and post my impressions back here.
Does anybody else in DF have experince with the YCN?

I actually didn't know anything about YCN until it was brought up here. I just learnt that the Cornell ballroom club is a member!! :) So, I guess the events they had and the dances that I went to were YCN sponsored?!! I also got some good information on other ballroom dances in the area - through the USABDA link that Kevin provided - so it was a productive investigation. :) I need these now that the ballroom teacher that I had group lessons with is wintering in Florida!! Got to at least retain what I learnt!!!!

USABDA has chapters in most states/ large cities, so it's always useful to check out thier site. Travelling somewhere for work or pleasure? Check out their website to see if there is a dance group nearby. Local chapters often also have websites with links to other dance groups as well, so it's a very useful resource.
