View Full Version : Stoning - AB or no?
I've been drafted to do a Paso Doble exhibition... I'm a bit clueless there, but I figure hey, I can at least LOOK pretty... so I've decided to stone up a rather skimpy outfit.
I'm ordering on-line some Swarovski Crystal flatback rhinestones, 20ss, and am ordering 10 gross, though I might need more. My only question is... AB or no? I personally don't like the look of AB, but does this stone really catch more colour and sparkle?
I'm clueless about these rhinestones... I'm a tango girl. (Oh for all the shoe freaks, I have another pair of Comme il Fauts coming my way... Yay!)
Thank you. ;)

I think it depends on the color of your outfit. If you're wearing a black and red themed paso outfit, I would probably recommend jet / jet AB / jet hematite (for the black) and siam ab / siam / garnet for the red part; maybe with crystal (not AB) for accent?
So... what color is the dress??? And what color are your shoes / accessories (earrings, hair decoration, necklace, bracelet etc)?

AB does look sparklier from a distance, even if you prefer plain crystal close up. However, it does depend on the dress.
I partly agree with DancerForLife on other colours, although jet AB come out a bit blueish, which is fine if that's the effect you want. Light Siam gives a brighter red than siam, which is darker and mor subtle. Siam AB gets a little pinkish.
This weekend I was watching Laura stoning her beautiful new gown. I really liked the transmission stone she was using. It picks up the color of the own & sparkles extremely well. I'd recommend it if you don't like AB.

I like the transmission AB on fabrics that go well with the yellow/pink/light blue that the AB color throws off. The material I was using was that kind of sagey/peridot that is popular right now (I felt so fashionable). This was the first time I used them and I was quite pleased, although I think I need to put more stones on the dress before my next comp. I'm so damn tired of stoning that dress though....
