Just saw this movie. Not much interesting dancing, but I thought the story was tragic and heartwarming, and nicely told.

If you have a quite evening and want to see an unorthodox movie, give this one a shot.

Hmm... I didn't like it, and I don't plan on renting or buying it in the near future. I was very disappointed as it had some of my favorite people in the movie. Oh well. They can't all be good though can they? ;)

I bought it. I think it's a very good movie. As a matter of fact, just watched it again last night. I just have to laugh when I read some reviews that complain there is no really good dancing in the movie. It's not about the quality of the dancing. It's about why we dance and why we won't give it up.

Yeah, I understand that, but it was too dark for me. I'm still very disappointed, but that's just me though. Shall We Dance has been my favorite so far. I've watched it a million times probably already and am still not tired of it lol. ;)

I won't watch it again. It was too dark for me too. Nevertheless, I don't regret the first watching :)

That's my favorite. It's the one that got me to visit a dance studio for the first time. And like you, I've watched it more times than I care to admit and I've only owned it for about a year.

I liked the movie, but I was amused/annoyed at the dance goofs it made--like having "Marilyn" talk about lindy while demonstrating ECS, and having two people dancing talk about how beautiful the waltz is--while the music they're dancing to is foxtrot.

American or Japanese version of "Shall We Dance"? I like the Japanese version better--it has a sweeter feel and more respect for dancing.

I actually liked both versions. My director loaned me both copies before I bought my own, so I was able to see the Japanese version too. You sort of have to watch the Japanese version to get a better understanding of the story, and it was sweeter and more romantic. But the American version is hilarious! I laugh everytime I watch it thinking I probably look like some of those guys sometimes lol. Plus... I liked how it's pretty technically correct more so than some of the other movies.
