I'm just looking for a practice partner that is available around the times/days that I dance. I have another person I can practice with also but I need to check with her schedule too. I'm only 16 so I would feel more comfortable with someone who's my age. I've tried looking for one at my school but it seems like everyone invests their time in ballet, hip hop, and jazz among other things in their lives. I'm only a Bronze II dancer and I love the smooth dances. How does one as young as me find someone my age who's interested in smooth american ballroom? Are those standards terribly high?

Where is San Jose? I am a little older than you ( 18 ) but I am also looking for a practice partner. I live in Orange County (kinda by Disneyland)

San Jose is in the Northern part of California, just south of San Francisco. So it would probably be a bit too far for the two of you to try to meet up regularly...

I wish I were closer, I'm looking for a partner as well, and it seems most guys between 15 and 18 aren't much into dancing, or won't admit it. (From what I've seen.) You'll find someone, just give it a little time.

Hey Movement, smooth dancers that have ballet backgrounds do very well....and most ballet dancers who have not reached a super high level by their late teens are not going to have a career performing ballet, they might be amenable to trying other forms of dance where they can be competitive.

Have you thought about taking a ballet class or talking to ballet students at a school to see if they might have an interest in learning smooth?
