Just be yourself and feel the music. Have fun, watch other people, most high school dancers aren't that great. Don't grind with people you don't know. That's just gross and is considered harassment if it's unwanted. Go there early and find friends or people you can hang out with. You don't want to go to a dance stag unless you're very outgoing.

Not to be dismissive, but waiting until the day of the event doesn't seem to have been the best of ideas. That said, go with what movement suggests.

SD's right. This time, just have fun and relax.
Then, on Monday, call up your local dance studio - show up - and start taking lessons - be ready for next time . . .

But you can learn so much in 3 hours!!! (Of course, I'd suggest girls get a 4 hour lead time. Need the extra time to fit in doing your hair and makeup along with learning to dance.)
Ummmm, should I have said Paso's mantra too??
In the future:
I will not make fascination's job harder.
I will not make fascination's job harder.
I will not make fascination's job harder.

trust me, your response in no way bears any resemblance to what hers would have been, had she not committed to being so disciplined;)

Totally agreed. Waiting until the last minute is probably not the best of ideas, unless you're naturally gifted. It just leads to brain overload, IMO, which is never a good thing, since, IMHO, good dancing engages lots of body parts and reflexes, most of which are centered in the brain.
And, to be perfectly honest, the whole, "Hurry up and answer me. I've only got three hours." comments turned me off.
Unlike a lot of people on this board, I have no problem with grinding/club dancing. But sheesh! At least be polite, if you're asking for help. :? My two cents.
I hope you're having fun at your dance, and hope that movement's remarks got you on the path to dance enjoyment.

That's the best answer one could give. :D
