Yep. A classic!
i love this song too, and bought the cd just for that tune - but it's not a classic. Ran Kan Kan is a classic; La Salsa Nunca Se Acaba is a modern little ditty that many salsa folk like.

To clear that confusion the distinction must be made, are we talking about a period in time, or are we talking about an instant success that can only be labled as classic regradless of period. I believe genEus is stating that the song has become a classic because of its appeal.
a Classic song doesn't necessarily have to belong to the classic period of salsa music to be labled such due to its success. There are songs that automatically become classics from the start. Jimmy Bosch, Wayne Gorbea, SHO have a number of tunes that are though of as classic tunes, yet they are no more than 10 years old.
Classic songs in that sense depend more on the style, than they do on the period. Ran kan kan is a classic tune from that classic period of Salsa. Where as a bunch of 40 or 50 year old tunes no one considers classics, yet belong to the classic period of salsa.

even by that def, i wouldn't call the Hanson song a classic. i would call it a hit.

Nice song ... I like to listen to it when I'm driving. I think of classics as being more back in the day, but I understand what you mean.

Well...I like 'em both...(and Josh, I downloaded La Salsa Nunca se Acaba today too!)

And maybe if the Hansen song has legs like Ran Kan Kan, it'll one day be considered a classic.
