Thanks, sami. Yeah. Wow. A blast from the past. Truth told, though, the first few thousand posts were the most difficult for me. Every single post was a lot of hard work. The next thirty thousand were comparatively easy. lol. DF fiive years ago wasn't like it is now (or has been for years. lol) Back in those days, DF had a handful of regular posters, at most. So My first few thousand posts reflected a heck of a lot of hard work on my part -- 40 or more hours a week in online research, seeding new threads, and responding to every single post, especially the ones from newbies. Anything to build the community. Plus a whole lot more. Participating in an active forum is much, much different than starting a new one. Eh. Water under the bridge.
And yeah. It's very different, even when one looks back at old threads, What "we" once considered successful threads have relatively few posts, by today's standards. Pretty funny, actually. Eh again.*shrug* It's too funny.
I have another friend who's trying to start an online forum as we speak. And I'm posting every fews days to a week at the most. Nothing more than that. Absolutely no interest in doing the grunt work to start another forum. lol. Never again. It's too much work. I think I'll start something else, next time around. :)

:)
you are definitely right on this one - constantly responding to an active post requires much more time and effort. You've done such great job! wow! 33K posts!!!

yah, pygma...the forum is clearly different from back then. but when i was scrolling thru some of the old threads, i was amused to find many of the same topics that are new these days.

anyway, came across an old thread identical to one going around right now...along the lines of how close or involved one has gotten with one's dance partner. that one seems to surface pretty often.

Pyg, have helped several people start new forums, and can completely identify with the work involved. Like you though, I've sworn off onit these days. :) Sure is nice looking back on some of them though. Up to 8 years or more, and still going strong on one of them. Rarely peek in anymore, but nice to see something you helped build still around. even if it is just a web page we waste time on. :)

agree. Just wondering why sometimes it gives me a notice when I search threads "you have to wait 15 seconds to search for new threads"? sometimes I got this type of message even it was my first time of the day to search threads.

I get that when I double click.:) (Or maybe it's triple click because I'm so excited by my search!hehe!) It seems to think I'm searching with each click instead of just the once.
