Has anyone been to this one before? Any reviews or recommendations? They have a mix of 3 parties - salsa, rueda and swing. How good is the salsa scene in this party. Is it primarily on1 or ET on2?

A couple of years ago (2002 into 03, and 2003 into 04) it was all one event. I've been to the event that you posted the link for but back then it was Jay, Molly, Al "Liquid Silver" and Edie. While there was a strong, California, on1 presence when I attended, there were plenty of dancers who could dance on2 as well. Now that the various promoters have split and gone their own ways, your best bet would be to look at who's performing/teaching and also ask among your friends and acquaintances to see who's going to which event.

It is in California, so it will be primarily On1.

There are 3 New Years events in Palm Springs this year. The event with your link may not be the best one to attend, depending on your needs. Al is having an event with David Malendez, who does all the salsa congresses. Their event will have instructors from all over, including many from the East Coast (e.g., Ismael Otero, Mario B, Duplessy Walker, etc). This event will probably have the most On2 of all the events.

Edie is hosting an event with Bernard Martinez, who teaches On2 in California. Their event also has many On2 workshops. Here are all three links.

But I'm really looking for on1...

There will be plenty of On1 dancing at all of these events.

I have a few friends who have been trying to get me to go to this but I'm still not sure of my schedule and such. I know they have already made reservations and stuff so it's harder to say no ... lol.

Edie is charging $135 for 4 nights of dancing, workshops, performances and New Year's Eve dinner ... where can you beat that? Also, the hotel is only $93 a day, which you can split up to 5 ways, depending on your needs. The other people's events are reasonable as well, plus you'll be in the desert in December. Al's parties are a la carte so you can always check one of his parties out if you want a change of dancers. Doesn't sound like a bad deal if you want to bring in the New Years dancing.
