Seriously though: Michelle Pfeiffer or Halle Berry

Bill Clinton, Bon Jovi, Antonio Banderas and Queen Latifah. Yeah right.

How about no boy stars vs retired NFLers?

waltzgirl
11-15-2006, 02:17 PM
Yeah, I hope they go for a different kind of athlete. A tennis player or a runner would be interesting.

And how about an older woman? Barbara Walters or Candice Bergen (not that either one of them would do it).

They need a tough action star type... like Chuck Norris, Steven Segall, Vin Diesel. Some of them have to have some free time, right?

Consider some racers for the athlete's spot!

Indycar phenom Danica Patrick would be terrific. She's young, charismatic, attractive, very competitive, and she's built up a marketing buzz. And, the DTWS season starts about the time the IRL season ends, so they would only be in conflict during the pre-show training period.

Another racer: NASCAR driver Mark Martin is retiring at the end of this season. He's older but he's got a rugged good look, a wry sense of humor, and he's a physical fitness specimen. He'd bring a huge audience.

Larry King danced? I didn't see that.

Anyway, my candidate is Lance Armstrong. I like seeing athles try to dance, as they have a good sense of their body and yet know nothing about dancing. I was also trying to think of a tennis star who has the time, someone retired but still young. Not that Pete Sampras would ever do it.

Or, Billie Jean King and Bobby(?) Connors?

Well I imagine that the producers are probably polling or approaching various celebrities now or will pretty soon as Dancing with the Stars 4 will debut in March. Meaning that by late January or early February we should be getting leaks about who's confirmed or been asked.

I'd like to see more actors that have theatre/broadway experience or like someone said athletes of different sports that are more aware of their bodies.

As far as pros, I can see why anyone would turn down the offer after reading those ABC boards and the horrible and cruel things people say about Karina. The show seems to be such a gamble for the pros.

My girlfriend had to elbow me in the ribs when I saw her and Bobby Flay competing against Mario Battali and Rachael Ray the other week. (I'd had the same reaction when I first saw Cheryl on Season 2). Mario Batali would have a helluva time dancing in those orange Crocs he always wears. Giada is a fascinating suggestion, though. She'd be great.

And I am ALL ABOUT Rick Springfield on DwtS. But only if he has to dance to his own songs. Watch him trip as one of the singers butchers a note in "Love Somebody."

I think former Indiana Pacer Reggie Miller could make the show interesting, but he's doing NBA commentary on TNT, so I'm sure he's unavailable.

Thinking about it some more, I'm realizing that a golf pro could be really interesting. One of my former coaches told me that one reason that a lot of pro standard dancers take up golf is because swinging a golf club is not that different from swinging your body across the floor. A golf pro might be able to come up with some really nice standard if they can make the mental link.

Don't know if this was mentioned by any one else. But I wonder if Karina will be invited again to DWTS? If not, I'd like to see Beata. She's no longer competing, so she's available. And she would provide even more "oomph" than Karina.

Another article turned up on Reality Blurred's site:

http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/dancing_with_the_stars_4/2006_Dec_13_fergie_cast

Text of article:

Fergie, the Duchess of York, signs on for Dancing with the Stars 4

The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, will appear on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars 4.

The news comes following a late November report that Fergie and Jennifer Aniston (http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/dancing_with_the_stars_4/2006_Nov_28_jennifer_aniston_sarah_ferguson_intere st) were both interested in being cast for the show. Since then, she’s denied (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds40346.html) that she even wants to be on the show. But clearly, that wasn’t the case with Fergie.

Executive producer Conrad Green told the Daily Express, “Everyone loves a royal romance and her presence will bring dazzling ratings. We like having a mixture and we’ve not had a duchess.” He’s also trying to get romance rumors started now, before she’s even paired with a dancer. “Fergie will add a touch of class to the proceedings and the fans will be waiting to see if she falls for her dance partner,” Green said.

Fergie (the British one) may be 'Dancing' on ABC
The rumors are heating up that Sarah "Fergie" Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has gotten her wish and will bring a little royal(e with cheese) flavor to the upcoming fourth season of ABC's Dancing With the Stars. (Asked by PopWatch to confirm the rumors, ABC declined to comment.

I'd like to see Michael Jordan on the show, also Richard Gere. He learned some for Shall We Dance, but I don't know if he's had training beyond that. I need to give some serious thought to who else, but I'd like to see them come up with a really good group this year.

12-28-2006, 11:25 AM
Having Richard Gere on DWTS with be a SERIOUS disadvantage for the other contestants. Not only has he had high-quality professional ballroom training before (and not a trivial maount of it either), but he was a damn good dancer in the movie, much better than J.Lo was and she was portraying his character's teacher!

tinkcrzy1972
12-28-2006, 02:08 PM
Well, on Tony Dovalani's MySpace or website, I can't remember which as I've visited both on numerous occasions, he lists working with Richard Gere for that movie as well as his role in the flick. Not sure how much or other training he's had, but you're right, he was VERY good. It would be nice if they could approach him perhaps to do an exibition with Cheryl or one of the other pro females on a results night. I'd sure prefer that to some of the odd bands they had on last year.

My hubby and I were kicking around ideas for other participants the other day. We think maybe Reba McEntire would be interesting, perhaps Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill, Christina Aguliera (not sure if she's had training or not), Michael Myers, Eddie Murphy, Beyonce (again, not sure about the training), I think The Rock (AKA Dwayne Johnson) would be just awesome on there. He's got such charisma, and I'm sure he could pick up choreography fairly quickly since they choreograph their moves in the ring. Pierce Brosnan would be neat to see. I've had all kinds of thoughts about it, I've got to start writing them down!

tinkcrzy1972
12-31-2006, 02:18 AM
I don't know if he has had too much training, and I think I have read before that his knees are too messed up to dance much anymore. I do wish they'd ask him to be on in some capacity, though, either as a celebrity guest critic or perhaps in a show dance, one time thing, possibly with his wife, they parnter each other quite nicely. Just thought of another star that would be fun on the show. Christine Baranski would be delicious to watch, and Cybill Sheperd might be fun as well.

What about these?

Lisa Edelstein (Cuddy on House)
Kate Walsh (Addison on Grey's Anatomy)
Sasha Alexander (Kate from NCIS)
Maggie Grace (Shannon from Lost)
Allison Janney (CJ from The West Wing)
Vanessa Marcil (Sam on Las Vegas)
Nicolette Sheridan (Edie on Desperate Housewives)

Hugh Laurie (House on House, he could use his character's cane as a prop :p )
Matthew Perry (Chandler from Friends)
Michael Wheatherly (Tony on NCIS)
Josh Holloway (Sawyer on Lost)

I guess any of these will be virtually impossible. I would also like to see, preferably a girl, between the ages of 15 and 18. I liked to see Louisa Lytton (17) on the British mother series.

Patrick Swayze would be great. He is the coolest.

I heard that Patrick was upset with DWTS after the way they treated his friend John O'Hurley. I would be very surprised if we ever saw him appear on DWTS again. It would almost be an unfair advantage to have someone like him on the show though. I'd rather see those that don't know anything about Ballroom etc. to appear. Jerry Mathers (I think that is his name from Leave It To Beaver) appeared on Identity. He might want to get his acting career going again. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on DWTS or even someone like Barry Watson that's been doing infomercials. ;)

Then we wouldn't have had George or Jerry. Honestly, I think they added their own little *something* to give the show a little lightness. I also like to see the general public get the feeling that this is something they can do, too, and I think if you had all fit/athletic/dancers, it wouldn't have the same effect.
