What would you say is a dancer's worst enemy?
I'm going to say a very slippery dance floor.

NO music!
How about a sticky dance floor?
Great dance music, but no one who wants to dance.
Having to work in the morning.
Your own ego, if you want to improve.

Slipperly dance shoes - Ones that cause you to end up in the splits (and its not part of your regular act), or worse yet, fall over on your keester! Or the ultimate folly, cause you and your partner to fall over!
Being stuck on a crowded floor with people who have no awareness of others around them, so you end up playing pinball. :headwall:
And the worst of all: NOT BEING ABLE TO DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have two...
Fear. Fear of trying, of feeling stupid because it take time to learn new step (or whatever).
Having a partner that talks you thru the step instead of leading you or letting you finish responding to his lead. This is annoying and definitely will have me limiting my partnering with this person. :x
I did talk to a partner once about the not letting me finish responding to his lead and he did not realize how he actions were impacting me in this circumstances. So... these situation can be rectified if you know that person.

I agree with the wrong music.
A Hustle or Cha Cha that's too slow . . . a C&W WCS . . . a Waltz that's to fast to do a chasse' correctly . . . a 2 Step with no beat . . . and so on . . .
Oh . . something that I discovered this past weekend . . . a Salsa that's too slow - although I really wouldn't know . . . it just felt easier to do when the music was faster??????????

For me, when I was a dance instructor, the worst enemy was injuries. An injury meant no work and no dancing.

I hear that one; a slow Salsa is ackward and in a class I was attending our instructor would play slow ones for practice and it was mentioned that we actually found it easier practicing to faster ones. For slow Cha Chas I also feel the same way; however one can switch to Rumba on this.

No girls arives
I hate slick floors. A slick floor shortens your stride and slows down your moves.

A lack of confidence in yourself. When you're confident and enjoying yourself, the music can be crappy, but you can still have a blast. If the floor is slippery, you might put your back out :), but again, you can still enjoy yourself, but if you've not got faith in yourself, you can have the potential to be Fred Astaire and you won't even be able to do a simple cha cha...

I think a slick floor is the best -- great for swivels and spins. A sticky floor is my nightmare...a sticky floor overcrowded by drunk people.
