At the Ohio Star Ball last weekend, Tony and Elena did their showdance to a rumba/bolero to the song "cuando calienta el sol." I am trying to find that version of the song. I asked Tony about it and he has no idea who sings it. I am putting it out to the Dance-Forums community to help me find this song. To me, it is one of the most beautiful rumbas and I would love to get my hands on it.

Do you have access to iTunes? I looked it up and around 30 different people sing that song. Having never heard the version they danced to, I can't tell you which one it is without more details. So, was it man or woman? Do you remember anything unusual about the song that might help me to distinguish it from the all the others? Because I'll be glad to search thru them for you if I know what I'm looking for...

Jim Doval & The Gauchos do a good version of it, IMO.

Let me know details and I'll search further.

I do have iTunes and I have listened to a couple, but none of them are the right ones. The specifics of the song (that I remember) follow:

Its a woman singing. It is very slow. She sings part in english and other parts in spanish.

That is all I remember...if anyone heard it please let me know.

At the Ohio Star Ball last weekend, Tony and Elena did their showdance to a rumba/bolero to the song "cuando calienta el sol."Two things that might help your search... it's Cuando Caliente El Sol... I know there's some spelled with the "a", but you'll get more results if you use the "e", which is the correct spelling.

Also, the English version of the song was recorded as Love Me With All Your Heart, so maybe you can find the version you're looking for searching on that string.

We'll be able to help more when we get to hear who sings it.

Hi Fellow Music Lovers,

Dave Innis here, am a professional Dancesport Music Director (and the guy that Tony gets his music from). That particul version of Quando Caliente has been out of print and unavailable for quite some time. Have it here on a very old, scratchy LP that I cleaned up for use at comps, etc. Just wanted to shed some light as many peole have been going nuts trying to find this version, to no avail (sorry to say).

Happy Dancing,
Dave Innis

Well, maybe if you told us all who it's by, others might make their own attempts to unearth a copy. Unless, of course, you want to keep it your own exclusive. ;)

I never met a challenge I didn't like. My stepfather has a basement full of old records -- lots of ballroom stuff (most of which I wouldn't put on my MP3). When he leaves my house this weekend, I'm going to have a little project for him to go home to. My mother will be thrilled!

No... David Innis knows who sings it but hasnt revealed it. The song is much slower than anything I have heard. She is sort-of whispering the words. Its a beautiful song. I know Eugene has a copy of it, so I am going to get it from him. He doesnt know the artist either though, so if anyone does know who it is please let me know.

hint-hint bjp22tango: you may post the information without an active link (without the "www.") if you'd like to supply information to our members regarding places to purchase.

However, as you've seen by SD's edits...commercial links are considered a no-no by DF guidelines. Thanks!

It would seem to me to be just as much trouble to edit them to be inactive as it is to edit them out entirely...

Can I ask why some of bjp's links were edited out completely, when other's of his were left in, and MQ's links were left?

I'm not looking to start the discussion on D-F policies, I'm genuinely looking to understand the difference in what is acceptable and what is not.

If PM's would be a better place for this, that's fine.

As far as the guiding policy, please see guideline #7 which, in part, reads:

7. Posting commercial links in the discussion forums is not allowed. Because we strive to be a source of information, in most cases mentioning the name of the product or website (the url without the www, .com, .net, etc.) is tolerated. While commercial links are allowed in the Events/Ads and Websites forums, this opportunity is reserved for our active members and is governed by our advertising guidelines. So, to clarify, active links to non-commercial pages are fine whereas active links to commercial pages are not. As far as why some were edited, those were posted yesterday. Had I read back and seen the others those would have been edited as well. Just because a moderator didn't catch a violation, that doesn't mean it isn't against our guidelines.

Note: some members who have been confused about the policy have requested clarification (either via posts, the staff PM forum, or PM) which is quite fine. Ignoring the guidelines, however, is simply not OK.

[EDIT: P.S. asking for clarification of policy is not considered debating moderating issues.]

Thanks for the clarification.

I didn't mean to suggest that un-missed things weren't violations. I'm aware of the rule in a general sense, and have, sometimes violated that policy when I haven't been mindful of it. I was only wondering if there was a subtle difference between posts of which I was unaware.

Sorry about the active links to commercial sites. I forgot about that rule. Let me check back and I'll update.

So all I did yesterday was :google: under Talya Ferro and the album title. One record reseller and one auction site had them for sale. Now the auction site in San Francisco has another copy "mint" for sale at half the price, and google came up with another record reseller. Good luck!
