I have ANOTHER question for you guys (please don't kill me, lol). After much reading up on the topics, I decided that I wanna study Latin rhythm, but I'm a little confused. Some websites have the dances listed as follows: samba, rumba, cha-cha, jive and paso doble. But other sites don't have paso doble, instead they have mambo. Does any one have an exact idea of what the dances are officially listed as? And is Argentine Tango independant of these dances, b/c I absolutley love that dance. Thanks!

International Latin includes; cha-cha, samba, rumba, paso doble and jive.

American Rhythm includes; cha-cha, rumba, bolero, swing and mambo.

Argentine tango is a club dance, but you can compete in it in some competitions (it does not belong to either latin or rhythm).

Good luck!

latingal listed the standard 5 competitive Rhythm dances. However you will find studios (many franchise, but some independent) that also include samba, merengue, wcs, paso doble, salsa (on 1, usually) in rhythm.
