I am hoping some of the Puerto Ricans can give me the low down on where a guy can go dance by himself and actually meet women to dance with.

I am in Mayaguez so I am hoping for places on the west coast and around Ponce.

I have already been to Blackjack(Aquadilla) on Fridays and Cafe Nova Ley(Mayaguez) on Saturdays. If anyone knows other options I would love to hear them.

The places I have been to play good music but they are dead. I literally might see 5-10 people on a saturday or friday night. Most of those people seem to be on dates and so the atmosphere isn't really what I am looking for.
Thanks

A few Saturdays ago we stayed at the Isla Verde Marriott Courtyard, right next to the airport in San Juan. The dance floor was full and people were dancing in the entry way and all around the lobby, even in front of the elevators. If you don't mind the swing talk, the joint was jumpin'.

take a look at this thread if you haven't already:

When I went to puerto rico, I was in Isla Verde as well - went to La Habana in santurce, and La Rumba in old san juan. Neither place was comparable to what I saw in the states - Music was good, there were locals and tourists, but I didn't see 'advanced' dancers except for a couple. the locals just chilled to the music, not really crazy about the north american style of dancing. tourists were there to soak up the environment..

try looking up university of puerto rico, and seeing if they have any college salsa clubs (fat chance really) and find out where everyone goes

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately isla verde, and the whole metro area is a minimum of a 2 hr drive away, more with traffic. Hotel rooms in the area ruin 100$ a night at least. It's is just not sustainable to go there very often. I am looking for something a little closer to home.
