Another philosophical question for you to ponder. Exactly what role does ego play in the development of a dancer? Healthy ego? Inflated ego? Insecure ego? Thoughts, anyone?

Jenn, I just saw this one. Good topic. As a dancer, your ego can:
hinder you from progressing (afraid of dancing with advanced dancers)
alienate you from other dancers (Attitude: I'm the best there ever was and can't be touched. Not a good thing in partner dancing)
humble you (when watching higher level dancers, you find, "Dude, I am not as great as I thought I was".)
advance your dance position (confidence in knowing your craft and present it well. keyword:Confidence not arrogance)
draw people to you.
All in the manner of five minutes. So the dancer will have to aspire to be balanced and aware of their Ego in every situtation. :) Anyone else?

I think you make some great points, peachexploration. Having a healthy ego definitely requires a balancing act.

I think all too often things are seen as absolutes (all good or all bad). Yes. balance is the key -- especially with the ego ;)
