whoa. I hardly recognized Hanna!

No kidding. She really does look completely different from when she was dancing with Paul K. I'm not at all familiar with exhibition/showdance competitions. Are the women expected to be very slim? Hanna looks more like a rhythmic gymnast or a contortionist now.

It's from this season's as Emma Bunton's listed as still being on the show when googling.

Strictly Come Dancing. 6.00pm. BBC1.
We're a bit miffed that Roobs got the axe last week, she mastered the cut away dress very well. After several months of gruelling preparations, Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly oversee proceedings as the remaining contestants (Emma Bunton and two other people I can't for the life of me recognise) battle it out for a place in next week's final, with a passionate Argentine Tango among the routines on the agenda. As always, it will be down to the audience and the hard-hitting panel of judges to decide who will stay and who will be sent waltzing home. Results can be seen at 9.25pm - where Cliff Richard sings and guest professionals Hanna Karttunen and Victor De Silva wow the crowd with a show dance

It was shown last Saturday . . . the best thing to be shown throughout this entire season, just brilliant. Made my week, that's for sure!

hmmmm....she's clearly got great ability, but I personally didn't find it particularly inspiring or attractive.

that is one skinny albeit supremely flexible lady...

Can't say I liked it. I'm not a big fan of aerials and this was mostly him throwing her around. The thing I love about latin is the connection dancers have with each other and the floor. Not much of that here. Certainly athletic though!

Hmm. . . I guess there's not too many exhibition fans here- I think Victor and Hanna's shows are something you have to see in person- believe me, they're definitely inspiring live.

Also seems to me that if you want Latin (especially based on her previous competitive dancing, especially with Paul), you'd probably be dissapointed... but if you expect this to be exhibition/theatre arts, as it is, then you can really appreciate this for what it is.

Definitely- it's not latin! IMO in exhibition, no one comes close to this couple.

Here's a video montage/tribute to them (I think Becca made it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVZKQRYC7zc

It's just that I'm not a fan of lifts in general. When you take out the lifts in that show piece, what are you left with?

watching that without music: not an experience i enjoyed.

It's a totally different style. Exhibition dancing is heavily based on the lifts: http://www.dancesport.uk.com/training/exhibit.htm

Geez, I just posted the video thinking someone might enjoy it. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. :?

Don't go too much by what I think ;-) Even in the crowd I hang with, I'm unique in my dislike of lifts. I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy many aspects of the piece!

LOL- well hopefully now everyone's been enlightened now on the topic of exhibition style dancing! :D

I for one appreciate the posting dsg21. Its not a style that apeals to me in particular, but I still really appreciate it when its done well... and no one does it better than Victor and Hannah.

Thanks, SD. I'm not big into exhibition either, but I really love Victor and Hanna for their amazings skills and I admire any couple that can pull off comedy- which is tough. One funny one I remember really well was when Tony and JT danced together and did a great cabaret routine that was hilarious in 2005.

I agree, I'd never even seen any performances in the style before Victor and Hanna began to compete together in Exhibition, and have to admit that I only take an interest in it because of them.

I do think a lot of people expect to see something entirely different when it comes to Exhibition, and many don't actually understand what it's all about. A lot of the general public over here complained that there were too many lifts in the routine . . . but that's the style of dance for you.

It's so true that nobody does it better than they do.

And yes, I did make that second video. Nothing like a bit of experimenting on the computer!

Oh Sweet Baby Jesus! They have to be the two most incredibly beautiful and smokin' people on Earth. I've always been a fan of Hannah's, and together they are sizzling. God, what I'd give for an hour with that man. . .

This is more of a acrobatic exhibition than a ballroom dance venue. It's not bad, but it pales in comparison to the asian couple where the girls did pointe on top of the guy's head IMO. And I also liked Max and Cheryll's routine to this same song more than I liked this routine, not to say that this couple is bad...

I am like, literally three times the size of her. When I look in the mirror and she's stood next to me, I feel positively obese.

I'm not a big fan of theatre arts (really, I think they should all go buy a good pair of ice skates) - but there's no denying that they're really really good at what they do.

I also think that as skinny as she is, she'd look a lot more feminine in a skirt.

All just personal opinion, though. They're both obviously amazing dancers.

I agree. She comes off more like a rhythmic gymnast or contortionist. Maybe Cicus Solei (dont know to spell it). And I dont say that in an insulting way its just the routines she does now are great but dont feel dancesportish anymore

I agree with you: she danced also in the Italian edition of Dancing With The Stars; in this video she wears a skirt >>link<< (http://www.media.rai.it/mpmedia/0,,RaiUno-Ballandoconlestelle%5E13095,00.html) and, as you said, she looks more feminine :)

They performed again at the semi final of the most recent season, luckily enough this time I had a ticket to be there to watch live in the studio!
