What makes a good dancer? What are the characteristics of the good dancer's dance that make them good?

Musicality and partnership. Dancing with the music and with your partner, rather then leading the follow through patterns to the music. :)

Will, I suppose that in theory a good dancer is one who dances technically correctly in time to the music, but there are plenty of people who know their steps perfectly and can do it faultlessly in time to the music who don't exactly inspire on the dancefloor.

Personally, I think a good dancer is one who obviously enjoys themselves.

I was at a comp. the other day and I remember the latin final...there were two particular couples who sizzled, dazzled and were breathtakingly fabulous and made me want to jump out of my seat and wiggle my booty!

The rest, about five couples in all, obviously pasted their smiles on and were simply performing by rote. One couple in particular, the ones that received the loudest applause, looked like they were in pain from the effort. Techically they were all great and there's no way I could dance as well as them in a pink fit and probably never will. Obviously they were "good" to get to that level, but they weren't good to watch.

Just out of curiosity, which couple won, MadamSamba?

One of the couples who dazzled the audience, Will... corny, but true...mind you, they also knew they had won and the guy actually stepped forward BEFORE his name was announced, which caused a ripple of giggles to spread throughout the crowd... :)
