Without a loss of quality of posts, do you think we can make it to 20,000 posts in the next 3 days?
If you have time, I hope you will try to think of a couple of interesting topics and make a post, or even make an extra effort to add to an existing topic or two or three or four.
C'mon...we can do it!

Sounds like a challenge to me! Let's do it, DM. :D

Oh No ... not the Word Game

It seems to have been restarted. Might I suggest moving the newest 3 posts (the ones that restarted it) to a new thread, so we can keep going with the old one, as well as the new one.
DanceMentor

Yea, it was in General Discussion I think and we moved it to another forum so it wouldn't appear at the top.
It's probably a fun game to play every once in a while (I did it, I'm guilty), but after some discussion, we decided it might be better to let the REAL dance topics have some priority.

No, I meant break off the 3 posts since it restarted into a new thread, so we can have 2 never ending word games :D

I don't seem to understand what you guys are talking about. Could you clarify please?
BTW, sorry about the Dance Forums going down. I just hooked them back up and I showed SDsalsaguy how to fix them. One of the spark plugs wasn't firing right and the air filter was dirty. So now we have two people with the magic key. :D

Sorry, guys. You're going to have to bring it home more or less without me. I've really done my part in the past couple days -- 40 or 50 posts a day. Trying to make up for the Christmas slump, you know.
So I'm pooped.
Plus, I have some behind the scenes DF work I want to do in the next couple days. Oh, the busy busy life of a DF moderator!
Either way, with or without me, I think 20K is an easy target to hit by tomorrow, don't you? :D

Let's try to see if we can get there without artificially increasing our posts, shall we? I don't think that posting to achieve a goal is necessarily what we want. There are plenty of interesting topics out there that we can contribute, sharing our experiences and perspectives! If there aren't start threads on those topics that you find interesting. The results will follow.

Exactly Sagitta... and hence DM's original admonition: "Without a loss of quality of posts."
I also don't think we'll have any problem getting there either.
Happy end of 2003 to all! :D

Unlikely DM... that would mean less than 100 new posts in the next 32 hours or so. Besides... the ball drop where??? Haven't you heard? We're global!

Note that:
All times are GMT + 1 Hour

Is this some slang for popping the champange, or a tradition I don't know?

A huge ball drops at midnight in Times Square in New York City. GMT minus 5 hours.

(Have to see that someday)
On our national tv we got the clock of the mayors tower in Copenhagen.
Besides popping the champagne we have a tradition of standing on our chairs, and then jumping into the New Year.
By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody.

And I'm sorely tempted to post eight nonsensical things just so we could get to 20K and I can go get some sleep. But I won't. Instead, I'll say that we've come this far because of some really great people. Lots of hard work. Lots of nice-ness, supportiveness, and willingness to share imformation, kudos and commiseration when needed. Bravo for us all! :D

Wow! I'm honored. I didn't even know we were getting close to 20,000. I was just responding about shoes!
DM and SD, any chance for some new avatars for 2004? I was using the Nicole Kidman one, but SalsaChinita seems to own it now, and I didn't want to confuse things.
By the way Happy New Year Everyone!

Wow, folks. How far we've come. Last December this time we were struggling to make 20,000 posts. I misremembered. I though we made it around mid-December, but we didn't. SD made post #20,000 just before midnight EST on Tuesday, December 30, 2003. Holy cow! That means, as of today, we've made 87,000 posts in the past 50 weeks. Not too shabby! :D

I meant, if we started counting at last December 30 (when we reached 20,000) and counted until we reached 120,000 total posts, how long will it have taken? I'm guessing just over a calendar year -- maybe 54 or 55 weeks, to accumulate 100,000 posts. We'll see. 8)
