I am SUCH a girly-girl...I love clothes, makeup, shoes (especially dance shoes...I think pygmalion is with me on that one :D ) and all the "froo-froo" parts of dancing, lol  People on my team always make fun of me because it takes me FOREVER to get ready for a competition because I fuss with my outfit, hair, nails, makeup, etc. for HOURS  Does anyone else relate?

Sorry, not a girly-girl here.

are you sure NeoDevin???

I'm not completely devoid of girly-girlness. I too like to feel beutiful and attractive-- like most folk. At the same time at school I work as a carpender for theatre so it is sort of impossible to play the role as a delicate flower and remain helpful.

I think I strike a pretty good balance and remain considerably sensible.

Funny story though-- for work we had to move a large stack of 3/4" Plywood sheets. There were three of us working and when we were just about done one of the guys, with a smile on his face, said "You're a diesel!" ... I'm fairly sure he meant it as a compliment :?
... so I'm as girly as a MACK truck?

so I take it we are a bit low on our girly-girl quota

I confess. I too am a girly-girl. At least some of the time. I've streamlined the whole getting dressed/putting on makeup thing. But I think there are definitely times when only big time girly-girl will do. Like when I have some intense flirting to do, I'm seriously into the batting eyelashes, "you big strong man, you" mentality.  Works for me.

I'm a big fat girly-girl too - when need be. 8)

I "caught" (or did he catch me?) my husband with my fuzzy pink "man-hunting" sweater from Bebe.... I had to retire it once we got married...

I don't think you can be a "manly-girl" (?) and wear feathers on your dress.... Well, unless you are a drag queen, but that's another topic alltogether......

ETA: "You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while." WTH?

What? Are you trying to tell me that as a shodan twice over with a degree in astrophysics I'm not allowed to wear feathers? Next thing you'll be telling me that glitter nailpolish is a big no-no!

Cheers
Sarah. <Seeking balance. Achieving confusion.>

I resemble that remark. I'm trying to quit biting my nails. It's just a light coat of gloss.

I think NeoDevin is desperately seeking attention!

I think NeoDevin is bored out of his mind.

And I think it wouldn't be the first time NeoDevin tried painting his nails black.

Well, it seems to be heading in the direction of what color nail polish might qualify Devin to be a girly-girl!

since a total of 1/2 of the posts in this thread are from NeoDevin and about NeoDevin...I would say he definately qualifies as a girlie-girl !

Look out! Dresses and coordinating ensembles are next.

And seriously, you know you've got the bug if you start using the word motif to mean anything that's non-literary or non-musical. If it refers to clothing or decor and it's got motif in it, you're in trouble.

Swing Kitten
01-30-2004, 03:22 PM
but but but.... I'm a designer!... motif is already in my vocabulary! Along with lots of other frilly words people feel smart using.

My clothes coordinate

but I don't have the ancles for most dresses

*sigh*

LOL--I'd have to say I'm a girly-girl when it comes to ballroom dancing comps. It takes me hours to get ready too. The makeup, the hair, the skin, the clothes...it all has to be perfect. But outside of dancing, I work out in a gym and take self defense classes. Not too many people there would regard me as a girly-girl, LOL.

Wouldn't consider myself a girly girl at all. Though I do do the nailpolish occasionally, and hair and makeup before work, but that's a necessity. Sure I muck around with the "girly" stuff, looking for costume ideas and want to get the right shoes for the right dress, but I don't obsess over it.

I work around a lot of men, in a male dominated industry, so you tend to lose their respect in a work sense if you are too "girly".

lol, okay... i'm definitley a girly-girl minus the make-up. i own a LOT of make-up yet i never use it... lol. i don't even know how to apply some things... but, yes, i'm still a girly-girl. i got the girly clothes, the girly room (pink walls and bedcover :P ) and everything else.
