In the Argentine Tango forum Pygmalion asked:
And what do the successful communities have in common?
Starting from the reference point of not-a-city-with-lots-of-people-and-choices, what do you think makes up a successful dance community?

hmm... that's something I would need to give more thought to but right off I would say that success in a dance community would be the ability to get new dancers and maintain a quality level to keep seasoned dancers happy.
Open, friendly, and respectful/cinsiderate people help makes this happen.
good food for thought though!

A couple good dance venues with a friendly, approachable atmosphere. A group of people, could be small, that likes each other and commits to dancing together regularly.

CT has that... but to the point that they tend to only dance with each other. It's hard when you're new and you're on the outside of a cliche. They're a nice group of folks... but don't expect the leads (particularly the "good ones") to ask you to dance.
