So we are going to the BYU Nationals in March, but none of my costumes meet the requirements. I have some that are close, but not exact. Are they pretty picky about the costuming? If so, I'm thinking of buying a leotard and covering it with fringe and stoning the straps. Good idea or bad?

Yes, they are picky... they will ask you to safety pin and cover things up that don't meet the standards. I know that wearing a modest leotard under a dress is a common solution, even if it's not a pretty one.

Thanks for the advice! I found another dress of mine that I could stone but it shows a little bit of my sides and the straps are spaghetti straps. Do you know if the straps can be nude or if they need to be the color of the dress?

Heard they're really strict. Also heard no sphagetti straps...

Straps have to be at least 1" wide. If there are multiple straps going over a shoulder, at least one of the straps has to be at least 1" wide. If yours aren't wide enough, you could put temporary ones on.
