What are your plans for the upcoming New Year's Eve holiday weekend? Is there any dancing included?

If I'm over the flu...an all night line dance party

If I'm not over the flu...in bed watching the ball drop on whatever station I can (no cable)

Same as it has been for the past seven years; the studio's annual NYE dance that they've been doing since opening in November 1996. They have always been great.

One other studio is going to hold a NYE dance, but from what I've been told by those students who go there is that they are going to charge $200. The one I'm going to is only $20 which will cover all the extras such as food. 8)

There are a bunch of parties here in town, but I think I'm going to stay home, snuggle with my new SO, and dance in the livingroom like no one's watching!  Now that's what I call a New Year's Eve celebration! :D

I'm going to go do another tango performance tonight, and then tomorrow, my wife and I will probably just watch a movie. We try to avoid too much driving on New Year's Eve.

I hope everyone has fun though!

Ohhhhhhhhh...the annual studio NYE ball is on...can't wait...about 300 fabulous dancers crammed into one room! What better way than to be surrounded by friends and family and to dance the old year out and dance the new one in? ;)

Have a safe and happy new year, everyone! :)

well that was fun.

Went to the local Ballroom... (they had a swing floor upstairs)... I made a request for some jazz... it didn't come through though  they even stopped the 50's stuff at midnight and went straight to hip hop-- I figured I had the whole rest of the year to feel awkward if I wanted so why start it that way.

suek, remind me to thank you in person

:D :D :D That was awesome. I was here (http://www.uadc.ca/html/events/hourglassball.html). We had a 10 dance performance by Jean-François Messier and Marie Bolduc, one of Canada's best amateur couples. They did a cha-cha to the song "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes (now that's a song I hadn't expected to hear there), and a jive to a country song and a bunch of other dances to a bunch of other songs that I can't remember/didn't recognize (the quick step and the Viennese were VERY impressive though). Everything they did was very impressive, and I hope to someday be able to dance as well as they do. I later had the chance to dance a cha-cha with Marie Bolduc, so that was lots of fun too. And to top off the evening, everyone is allowed to keep the centerpieces from the tables, so I now have a vase of flowers, and 2 empty vases (some people didn't take their vases... don't ask me why not). The food was great, the dance partners were great, the show was great... absolutely no complaints... (well one, but that's a' whole 'nother story, I'll tell it if you guys want) :D :D :D

The NYE dance I attended went well as always. Not quite as big a crowd as last year though. Complete with a lot of food and party favors and a pro show by the staff and of course the midnight balloon drop with everyone wanting to bust them with their feet. 8)

That dance with the 200 dollar charge - turned out that studio wasn't able hold it according to those from there who came to our dance; gee, I wonder why.

On New Year's eve, I went Swing Dancing at the Park Plaza Castle in Boston as part of First Night. Great fun! :D

Ok... but it's nothing overly exciting. My favorite waltz partner left before I got a chance to dance with her. Up until new years eve, I hadn't gone to a formal event and not danced a waltz with her. It was sort of a tradition (even if only in my mind :P)
