View Full Version : resolutions
I posted under New Years dance goals, but swing-specifically, here are my resolutions:
I enjoy social dancing. I strengthen my willingness to deal with frustration, rejection (thicken my skin, as DNice suggests). I lighten my social-dance agenda so it is first and foremost about joy and fun.
I continue studying. I take classes and workshops in lindy hop, balboa, chicago steppin', blues dancing, carolina shag, hip hop, musicality and jazz steps.
I master turns. I practice turning, spotting, moving from my center, every single day and in every single private.
I master tandem charleston. I get the lead into and out of tandem charleston so that it's intuitive and easy.
Happy new year everyone.
Sue

I just want to be fun to dance with.... that leads to the rest of my goals and ensures that I am having fun myself!

Agree with Swing Kitten - being fun to dance with is important. Vested interest - to keep 'em coming back for more.

Let's see, New Years Resolutions... :? Well Obviously...
1. To improve my dancing -- socially, technically, styling-wise...and maybe compete in something more than a J&J.
2. Stop having black and white thinking...be willing to try and accept that things may not come right away but with practice will.
3. Take better care of myself. I tend to ignore pain which leads to injury. I need to make sure I'm healthy in order to improve my dancing and running and such.

Is this thread for New Years Resolutions in general, or Swing New Years Resolutions specifically? I'm going to go for swing, since I have given up New Years Resolutions in general. Too depressing when I quit (in February, usually   )
Swing New Years Resolutions: Learn some basic patterns, posture, and styling for lindy hop and balboa by June, 2004. Continue to individualize styling for WCS. Hook up with the local bop club, and pull some of my old moves out of the closet. :D

So, how's you all doing on your resolutions?
SK, are you fun to dance with? (If the lead smiles and come back for more, that's either because you're stunningly beautiful, a fun dancer or both :)
SB, are you taking care of yourself?
AD, how's your traveling going?
GM, how's your lindy going? I know it's not june yet, but :)
Suek, do you master turns, TC, enjoying social dancing and continuing your studies?

Well...pretty late for this posting, but Sagitta mentioned this on another thread, so, I checked it out to post mine.
I wanted to learn more tango, foxtrot, waltz, and viennese waltz inorder to participate in all four at competitions.
So far: I have been working on all American Smooth Bronze steps for tango, foxtrot, and waltz. I intend to continue making improvements and picking up viennese waltz soon.
