Cool Pygmalion! I never knew which one was you...somebody (Vince I think) mentioned a red dress, but there were two ladies wearing red dresses in those photos...it wasn't until SD pointed you out that I knew which one was you. :)
Come to think of it, I think we've seen pictures of everyone here...well there's one of SK but she's wearing a costume.

I use them on Yahoo all the time, but I couldn't download them either!
Usually, all I do is right click on the picture and go into 'properties' and copy that down, then re-write them into our avatar section . . . but even that is not working.
We need one of computer experts involved here???????????

Does this mean you'll have to forfeit your award?
Nope . . . because it was a 2003 DF award and her avatar is a 2004 occurrence. She certainly has forfeited any claim to that award for 2004 though . . .

SD, are you going to remember this for next December???
By that time, you'll have to write the categories down for us, and let us start filling in the names . . . of course, to save some time, you can always just fill in my name in the same slots again . . . :D

I feel it very important at this point in time to make this announcement...
The award for closest birthday...first, is this referring to day like 11 is close to 13 OR is this referring to date as in April 4, 1975 is close to March 7, 1975?
If the closest birthday is in fact going by day (the first option listed above), then it is my duty to report there may in fact be an error in the award as jenibelle and I share the exact same birthDAY (not year)...TODAY!!!!

 Here's a thought for the length of acceptance speeches  You get one second for every 10 posts you have made by the time awards are announced. Now if the award winner MapleLeaf has say 9813 posts(Pygmalion's current total  ) then he would have 981.3 seconds which means more than 15mins for his speech

Don't sweat it. I don't do acceptance speeches. I've won an award or two in my day, and generally, I say, "Thank you." That's about my limit. What's that speech length? Four seconds? You coudn't even do a cross body lead in that amount of time.

I couldn't resist. My scientific curiosity was aroused. I wondered what assumptions were guiding that statement. With an average of 2 posts more a day then moi...it would take quite a while. I actually should have checked your posts and see how many posts a day you were making. If you were increasing the number of posts you made every day, over time, then MPS's statement might be a more credible one. I couldn't be bothered - so you can see I still don't take these things seriously. :)

Ah ha! It's not the average (mean) number of posts you have to worry about here. It's the rolling average. Meaning, unless Pacion does something drastic, the average (mean) number of posts from Pacion's joining date will change very little, especially since she's been a member for a long time. However, if she has recently increased her posting level dramatically, the average number of posts over the last couple of weeks (the rolling average) might be significantly higher than the mean over the past several months.
The short of it is, she's gaining on us.

Seriously, nominations will, as in 2003, be open... meaning you can nominate anyone for anything. Note, this doesn't mean an automatic award…at least two independent nominations were required for the 2003 awards and, given the growth of the DF since then, 3 or more may be the cut-off for 2004.

So Purr. What were those other categories you were thinking of?
Hummmm....I'll reflect on this (pathetic, isn't is?)....and send my suggestions in a PM to the appropriate party as to not cause any more controversy.
Controversy? Just when the fun was getting good
SD, how about you let us think about it, and then you approve the final version
Ok, you've talked me into it. Give me a little time to check the original categories and reflect on additional suggestions. Then I'll post here.

Come to me, don't run away
You desire me mucho, I've heard you say.
I've got flowers, candy and new satin sheets,
Whatever you need, I've got it, sweets.
My job pays well, my car is fast,
And all those other women, they're in the past.
Your beauty entralls me, your passion sings pure,
How much longer without you can I endure?
Come to me, carina, don't hesitate no more
Let us dance all night, on a dim-lit floor.
Once in my arms, this romantic tryst
Come to me my love, for you've been missed.

Ask and ye shall receive.
For Purr
My words can only say so much
Never can describe your touch.
Thunder speaks, and mountains roar
The ocean breaks, on a far distant shore.
A scent of jasmine fills the air
Deep in my heart, I find you there.
One to speak, in silence now
Forever burning, please show me how.
The road is far, softly blows the wind
To find myself in your arms, once again.
True many may find my words untrue,
Since I've never seen or met you.
So let the others say what they must,
In love the say, its hard to trust.
As so above, the sky is blue
My eyes weep alone, thinking of you.
SG
Thank you, SG, you made my day! Your poem is the best thing anyone's ever written for me.

I had made a post about this last night but it got zorched and I was too tired to redo it. For a limerick though, you need to have 5 lines, not 7! 8)
Let me give you a few examples:
There once was a man known as Vince,
Who danced WCS like a Prince.
His sugar pushed with such class,
As he wiggled his ass,
That his friends all thought he was crass.
There once was a young man named Jon,
Who wrote his thesis from dusk until dawn.
His brain then stopped thinking,
Which drove him to drinking,
Why he did this I have not an inkling.
There once was a man called Sabor
Who danced on a dimly lit floor.
From the land of the Pharohs,
Came this smooth dancing Salsero,
His eyes touching women to their marrow.

All the names of awards came from SD's original post for this thread.
Also, I'm going to print this list out and start keeping a list of contenders. The problem is this list is so long, it will be difficult to remember what is on it. I'll be posting away, and probably fly past possible candidates for nominations with out even knowing it unless I periodically review the list. If lots of folks do this, oh my! It might be a nightmare to tabulate the results. Hence my offer to SD of help if he needs it.

Yes it was (and will be) a big job…especially as "categories" are open. You can nominate anyone for anything DF related. A certain threshold of nominations will need to come in for a category to become active, but there isn't anything set in stone. Also, just as an FYI, the category was for most plugs of a *personal* website, not a business related site…
Thanks for the offered assistance DP, and I may, indeed, take you up on it…
